Actually, most think it's water vapor from the burning of jet fuel in jet engines. There is also soot in there as well, which would cause further condensation and cloud formation.

Do you think that the folks involved in HAARP at the University of Alaska are somehow secretly trying to seed the atmosphere with barium? If so, why? The Patent seems to to have to do with ionospheric research, not some sinister government conspiracy. If you think it is a nefarious plot, you need more than jet trails in the sky if you want to prove it to me or anyone else who's even mildly skeptical.

I'm not naive, I know that our government's been involved in some really underhanded $#!+, hell, I've even been involved in some of it, but when they get caught (and they always do), there's generally been a lot more evidence than a few peoples impression that contrails seem to stay around longer than they remember from some vague point in the past. Extrordinary claims require extrodinary proof.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk here, I think people should keep a close eye on the government. It's essential in a democracy. But I think this sort of "shadowy conspiracy" rubbish is actually a distraction from the real issues that this country, and our world, faces. We should be asking our government why we're back to negotiating with the Taliban, not if they're trying to sneak somethig into the atmosphere. Look at all the crap we're putting into the air every day with the sources that we know about.

Sorry, I ranted again...
