Coming in to work today there was a lady on the bus that works at the USGS here in town and she was going on about how her building and co-workers had to sit through this seminar about this huge subduction quake that was coming.

It is supposed to start on the coast and work its way inland. This would cause all the bridges to collapse and the West Hills to collapse due to liquefaction.

One of the other passengers asked how they would get out of downtown Portland, since the bridges are gone and the hills are impassable. I said well you have to hike 10 miles to Barber Blvd. then 10 miles to Beaverton. I told them they better have enough food and water for 1 week.

They said that they would stick together and ride it out in the city. I almost laughed. I asked them to Google Bug Out Bag and then make the decision.

I for one have a B.O.B at home for my family and I need to get one for work. I will be out of downtown as quick as my feet can carry me.

Does anyone else have a B.O.B? What do you keep in there?
