    What ever happened to:

    You get sick
You get in bed and take some aspirin
You drink fluids as best you can along with some chicken soup
You sweat, feel crummy and maybe vomit a lot
After 3-5 days you get up and resume life?

Unless you're sick from something else, you will survive a mild case of the flu. What's with the hysteria? Why does everyone have to run to the doctor every time they get the sniffles. No wonder health care costs are so high! I don't remember this stuff happening 25 or 30 years ago. Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy

    Default virus

sorry to say this i think Japan is doing right .
As long as we haven't find treatment for virus we must take maximum precautions. what we have is not the deadly one yet? it is missing important amino acid.
Now as many as people will get sick there is more chance virus could get deadly if that virus deadly then sorry people .it spread air borne and we are really really deep trouble.
    They think tomorrow not tonight.
Same thing did mexico and you can see the result.

    This is what i think.

I did extensive traveling in Japan back in the 1970s when I was in the navy and before all the western influences had really hit and I was impressed with the fact that in general the Japanese people are a very level headed group with a well ordered society but when they get on the extreme about something they really get extreme and just go off the deep end about things.

Seems to me all the Asian cultures are pretty weird.

Japan is no different, although perhaps a little more extreme.

    Ever drink "Habu Saki"?
    You aren't missing much.

I know a kiwi that lives there and he has developed a theory.
He seems to think that the locals are more belligerent to him because he is about 9 inches taller than anyone.

I guess they start out feeling inferior and it just gets better and better.

No I'm not racist, Asian people are short and they know it.
My wife claims to be 5'6" even though she is 5'4" and adding 2" seems to be the standard in her country.

Anyway, Duke is 6'7" and might do well to find another country to live in.
    LOL

Imagine how a 5'2" guy feels talking to him?????
Probably not very good about himself !!!!

The normal flu kills 100 thousands every year on a global scale. Noone seems to worry about that either. This flu has so far not been significantly more deadly. There is no cure for the normal flu either.

Besides, people are contagious before they get sick, for 2 days I've heard. So by the time there are symptoms, they've already infected other people.
short of completely closing the borders and allowing only passage through quarantaine (completely disrupting the economy), there is really not much useful you can do.

Taking basic precautions is good, but there is no need to go over the edge into the extreme.
