Default Finally took my camera out again

Today, after waaaay too long, I finally took my camera out for a shoot. I'm not really sure why I've not gone out shooting in so long... Anyway, I talked with another photographer from the area, and she suggested checking out the Warner Castle and the Sunken Garden. So I headed over there this afternoon. I only made it around one side of the building and a little in the back; at that point I took a look at the Sunken Garden and was too overwhelmed to start on another site.

I was shooting digital with a D70s and a 18-55mm and 70-300mm lens, and I did some light editing in Photoshop CS2. Unfortunately, converting from Raw to jpeg has a pretty noticable impact on the images, so web-uploads don't look all that great. Anyway, I wanted to share my work. I decided to go with photobucket thumbnails so you could get large images.

I'd love to get some feedback, but be gentle; I haven't done any real work in over a year.

This one's more of a self portrait, but what the heck, I'll stick it in.

Some nice subjects for B/W there. Worked well.
Did you use any filters (the screw-on kind, not PS ones!)?

Thanks, Raja. And thanks to you too, Wolf; I must have been writing while you were posting.

I usually use UV filters, mostly just for lens protection. Today, I was using a circular polarizing filter and a skylite (1B, I think) on my wide angle zoom lens. Unfortunately, when I got home I realized I had some vignetting on the wide angle zoom when I was using her down at 18-20mm (stacking the filters left the top one just a bit in frame). On my tele-zoom I didn't have a filter; I don't use that lens too often and I don't have any filters for her yet.

On my list to buy: 62 mm filters and a hood for the wide angle zoom.

Very nice. Some of them blend especially well into the ones next to them, too.

Thanks. I didn't mean to blend them together, I just stuck in the thumbnails in the same order that I shot the photos.

Thanks. I started off doing B&W film in school, and I never did anything in color until I went digital. To this day, I haven't done anything in color that I've liked (with the exception of some over-saturated work, but I don't consider that to be "real work"). In general, I prefer B&W to color, too.
