Perhaps we've strayed from the original point, which was that the some in the Republican party (and apparently some on this board as well) continue to believe it's funny to compare the Obamas to simians. Not to say this hasn't happened to the Dems as well, but there have been more recent examples coming out of the R camp versus the D camp since Obama took the stage.

To make my position perfectly clear: I believe it is abhorrent to joke, infer, jest, or otherwise attempt to suggest a that african americans haven't evloved to the same degree as whites (or any other race for that matter), or to infer that african americans resemble chimpanzees more that whites do. And let me make one other point: I consider anyone who thinks otherwise to be either totally ignorant, or a racist. It's really that simple...

I would agree with this also but this wasn't your original point. your original point was to point out how evil us republicans and conservatives are while neglecting the obvious racist problems on the left side of the aisle.
In other words, it had nothing to do with race and everything to do with vilifying the Republican party, and by extension conservatives in general and by further extension, many here on this board including myself.

Oh ok, members of both parties say racist things, it's just a republican that did it this time. So this thread is about racism, not the party that's digging it's own grave?

I dont like racist comments either, but I also don't like it when an entire group gets labeled because of the comments of one.
