Thanked: 90I'm Selling Subscriptions to a New Magazine
I'm thinking of starting a new magazine. It'll be a quarterly at first, but it may eventually become a monthly.
The contents of the magazine will consist of nothing more than photo spreads of straight razors and associated paraphenalia, Fountain pens, watches (wrist and pocket), Scratch 'n sniff pictures of scotch and whisky (and maybe coffe beans and cigars as well), guns, classic cameras, classic cars, classic mororcycles, and classic wooden boats. I don't know if I'll really have any text in there besides the captions, but I suppose articles about the same subjects would be a good idea...
I'm only half kidding here. I have often wanted to subscribe to a magazine like this, but have never seen one that quite hits the nail on the head. I'm wondering what the level of interest would be out there, so I'm doing this unscientific survey here.

Thanked: 234Sounds like a good idea, but I would need to have text! A little bit of history, restoration stories from people - that kinda gig.

Are the "Show & Tell," "Finer Things In Life," and "Razor Club" sections not doing it for you anymore? ;-p

there is something about having it in print, maybe just me but I like paper between my fingers. I like the sound of this magazine. stories though are good when topical. lots of pics though, I hate one or two pics of something really cool and that's it, you're wondering about certain things and just don't know. i.e. the indoor pool at hurst castle, does it really come out inside the house or not? there is no really good photo gallery of tha tplace, there should be.
and beautiful women. not nude necessarily, but gorgeous women dressed great, like the Vanity Fair pinups, doing various things. whatever happened to that shaving video with the girl in the satin gloves? Monica Belucci driving a Chris Craft Cobra. AAHHHHHhhhhhh......

I'm sure some of the major players would be interested in advertising.
and you could have a nice clean cover
like a giant closeup of a Robert Williams and a natural stone with some figure
pretty sure a straight on the cover would get some attention

Sounds like a GREAT idea. I'll gladly sign up for editor of the automotive section!
Sort of a mix of "Robb Report", "Cigar Aficionado", except not marketed exclusively to people with more dollars than sense.
