Thanked: 10Any Biodiesel or WVO people in the house?
I seached and can't believe that I'm the only one on the site that makes their own! So sound off if you make your own BioD or run your stuff on WVO.
I've got a 2003 Ford Excursion 7.3 and 1993 F250 7.3IDI running on homebrew B100 and WVO conversion kits. Around 100k grease miles total.

I have an '01 VW diesel Beetle & ran some triple filtered fryer oil through it last yaer. I had no problems. I built the electric pump driven system from some online plans and the filtered oil was then mixed with a splash of kerosene, a hint of unleaded gas and a pinch of naptha. The mix would have gelled on me for sure in colder temps, but it was a fun experiment. Bottom line, my free oil supply ran out.
Yes, I made my own, but only briefly.

It's a bad idea to use home-brew 'diesel' in Bosch or any other common-rail diesel injection system. Unless you like expensive repair bills.

I've got a friend who has a diesel econoline van. He has been running it on filtered used vegetable oil for years. No special mixtures, etc. He has two restaurants that supply him. It only works when the temps are above freezing, but when the temps drop, he just fills it with diesel. He has zero problems. It's pretty awesome IMO. He lets anyone borrow the van because the gas cost is nothing! lol

If you read the diesel alt fuels forums you get a lot of contradictory opinions, just like any other forum. It makes it hard to determine what is true or false and due to the potential loss it makes it hard to experiment with your vehicle. I know this has been true for me. If you have been doing this for a while I would be interested in your experiences and technique for making the wvo alternative. It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.
