Think about it?
Great tobacco using democratic leaders Franklin.D.Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, winners of all the freedoms we have today.
Anti smoking, Anti alcohol, vegatarian, Adolph Hitler!
Why are there always people who want to force other people how to live their livesCorrect me if I am wrong but I thought DEMOCRACY meant "rights for all people including the individual"

from the angle of providing health benefits for life I can certainly see the cost savings
especially because lots of the guys are belt fed smokers throughout their entire deployment
the drinking is also quite heavy if it's available
from the soldiers angle banning smokes would be like banning beef jerky and sunflower seeds
or tats for Marines
besides, who can stand here and honestly tell me this guy doesn't NEED a smoke?

I don't like the proposal.
The health costs are just part of paying for a military and have to be accounted for; soldiers pay taxes too.
If we can't afford it, then let's cut back on the global military presence and let some other non-smoking militaries cover their own tailsFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

This is a joke! Whoever the slack-jawed clown is who proposed this idea should spend a couple of days in a free-fire zone. I've seen guys that have never smoked before in their lives ask for, and devour a Cowboy-kicker in no time flat!
As Marlon Brando mentioned in Apocalypse Now, "they give us flame throwers to use but will not allow us to say the word ****!".
I really feel for the folks in the **** right now, it's never ever been fun but to have to deal with that compounded by a bunch of idiot politicians making up rules to justify their jobs, makes me glad I got out when I did.
God Bless the Troops!

So, the smoking lamp is out, what a drag ! I once got caught smoking after lights out.
Some D -head in my own company turned me in while in boot camp. The CO's went easy on me...They were smoker's. I think you'd have to quit before you go in. Quitting Smoking and doing boot camp at the same time is not a good idea IMO.We have assumed control !

Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm just waiting for the facecrime and thoughtcrime laws to come down the pipe. Only a matter of time.

Enough with nanny states! ENOUGH!
Are we not grown ups?!
If individual men and women wish to smoke and are military, why not?
Does that keep them from doing their job? No, it doesn't!
Do they think that during a battle the soldiers will ask for a break so they can smoke a cigarette?
Do they think that, because a soldier craves a cigarette, he will perform worse on the battle field? What are these health and safety fascists thinking?!
Do they really beleive that they have such power, that they can ban whatever they don't like?
We are free men and women. We are free to smoke, if we want. It's bad for me? Sure it is. I am aware, Mr. Healthy-Fascist! Do you think I'm stupid? That's enough! Enough!
I don't like health and safety people. Let's ban THEM! I am fed up with this health fascism. If they are so concerned about people's healths ban Macdonald's and fast food - fast food is directly related to the deaths of milions in the western world, while others starve to death. Its pornographic! And these fascists of health don't give a F-word for that. They don't F-word+ing care about that. Hunger? Obesity? Global warming? No! Let's hound smokers because they are a danger to themselves. WE KNOW THAT! We smoke because we want to. If we wish to quit, sooner or later we will quit. It causes cancer? Sure it does! WE ARE AWARE!
I understand the ban of smoking in public spaces. If I wish to smoke, fine. But I must keep others from being harmed by my smoking habits. I understand that and I am pro-banning of smoke in public spaces. But in no time the bastards in the health and safety organizations will start banning all sorts of things out of what can only be spite and hate and envy.
I HATE THEM!
What qualifies them to know better than me? What?! Soon enough meat will be banned, sugar will be banned, noodles and other carbon-hydrates. And vegies too because it's sure that one of those IDIOTS doesn't like vegies... And then they will ban life itself because life is bad for life because while living you may harm yourself and die. Idiots...
And let's also ban cars. And staples. And knives and all sorts of sharp pointy things. And Lego because some grown up may swallow a piece of Lego. And let's ban Summer because it's hot. And Winter because it's cold. And religion because we don't beleive in the same Gods and that may be unconfortable to others. And let's ban common sense while we're at it. And let's parade down the street and rejoyce in our new clean and safe order. And burn books.
I'm not ranting because of the ban on smoking in the military. I'm ranting because I am utterly against banning something that one does because he chooses to. Full stop.
I'm starting to feel as if I'm living in Orwell's mind.
