You know, the government is really ****ing me off today. I think I'll destroy all my possessions, and my neighbors' possessions too. That'll show the government.

I'm pretty sure if you set your house, and your neighbours, on fire - you would get the attention of someone.

The point is, you - and probably me - have a vastly higher tipping point than the french. We sit back and take it, even when we think the whole nation agrees with us and the government is ignoring us - the french do something about it. The french **** people off.

If every one in your street, in your town and the one after that, etc etc, did what you are so sarcastically suggesting - then you sure as hell would get the attention of someone. Blocking off roads, and ports, has proved effective as well. Don't make light of social unrest.

Anyone can act like a child and go crazy. I will make light of it when it's ridiculous. Take the LA Riots of 92. I would say that they didn't really accomplish anything, except a billion dollars worth of damage to other people's things. Personally, I found it ridiculous.

My main point here is that, while it would get attention, it wouldn't effect a positive change. What it would do here in the US is cause us to lose more freedoms and have the government take more control so that social unrest stays at a happy minimum.

That was 17 years ago, 17 years. That's a long time to remember something that didn't really accomplish anything.

Just because it was foolish doesn't mean I should forget about. Those who forget are doomed to repeat. Where are you going with the 17 years bit? To suggest that something is relevant because it happened 17 years ago and I remember it is weak.
