Thread: Just heard the funniest ad

So I'm listening to the radio whilst painting a wall, and on the radio I hear this: "Did you know that marijuana is available medicinally to those who need it most? Call xxx-xxx-xxxx or goto [some website] to find the nearest doctor that can assess and prescribe marijuana, and even growing permits to those who need it most."

I'm new around these parts, so naturally I laughed at the absurdity of it. Where I'm from, thinking about growing marijuana is illegal, and using it for medicinal purposes is the stuff of jokes.

Do you hear ads like these on your radio stations?

Haven't heard a radio ad, but I believe CA just passed a tax on weed..

This reminds me of that scene from "Half Baked" where finds all the bricks in the clinic storage room.

pot can be useful treating manic depression (the manic part)

while it doesn't help you stay on task, it certainly slows racing thoughts and helps relieve anxiety

the anxiety can lead to a crash and no one wants that

For those of us in California, it's been a reality for quite some time. Not that I partake (it's just not for me) but it's all over the place in these parts.

My Grandfather, and his brother (what is that to me?) were both the most conservative of guys. My Grandfather was on Kennedy's and Truman's economic staff. Very conservative government workers, clearances etc.

Dean (Grandad's brother) got Glacoma. Really bad case apparently. So not only is he losing his eyesight, he is in pain too. They discover that weed relieves the pain of Glacoma. I think it was Glacoma.

Anyway, they would sneak into the bathroom to smoke weed, cuz of course Grandma would have had a cow.

So when I was growing up I was always catching my Granddad and his brother in the bathroom smoking weed and getting the munchies afterward. When they were in their 80s it was like Cheech and Chong do Florida Retirement .

What's interesting, is that while it's legal for medical use here in Oregon as well as Cali and several other states, it's still against federal law.

Technically, I federal agent could cite or arrest you for possession.

I keep waiting for it to end up in the supreme court.


Besides, 90% of the people I've ever encountered who used medical marijuana were just druggies with an excuse.

That being said, I knew a guy who was greatly helped by it. He'd been in a serious motorcycle accident and the head trauma had caused a lot of front-brain damage. He kept his memory, intelligence, muscle skills and everything else, but without the control of the front brain, his behavior became more eradic, and he was basically an unpredictable a-hole.

He found that roasting 1 bowl every morning leveled him out and allowed him to act like a normal person all day.
