I'll third the Murray's. At least as far as strength and "durability" go. You most definitely lose the "touchable" factor, as anything which your Murrayfied hair touches will now feel nice and waxy.
Also, I will second the "not washing out" easily thing. I have to go 4-5 days of regular showering before the stuff is more or less out.
A side note, if you are around airborne particulates or plan on faceplanting, whatever is around you WILL stick in your hair and NOT come out. After recently doing some metal fabrication, I had sparkly hair for a couple days.
I personally love the stuff, but my lady says my hawk+Murray's makes me look like a tweeker a la Salton Sea (great movie btw).
Lately, though, I've been using the fiber putty stuff referenced earlier in the thread. I highly recommend it, not for a gel-like hold, but for good hair control, texture, and natural look.

Thanked: 150Spit and a Brillo Pad. You all and your fancy schmancy "hair tonics."
