    Default Hair Gel/Product

I use American Crew Pomade because my hair is pretty stubborn and thick (sticks straight up if its short). But its pretty expensive. Wondering what others use, and if there is a cheaper/better alternative.

Mine is the same way short. If it absolutely must lay down, I use the highest strength LA Looks gel. It's old school, but it's the only thing that works for me (and won't break the bank). When my hair is a little longer, I like to use Garnier extra strong fiber gum putty. It's more expensive than the gel as far as dollars/quantity, but it looks more professional than gel. I can also wear my helmet with it and not mess it up, as well as go to be without fear of pain/gel residue on sheets.

My hair is as stubborn as its owner and (usually) short too. It refused to be tamed until a lady friend pointed me to the Australian brand Fudge. They have different products; when feeling inclined to make an effort hair-wise, I now use their hair shaper. It reeks unmanly sweet of toffee or something of the kind, but girls seem to love it. Around here it appears to be sold by a 'super trendy' and thus ridiculously expensive hair-stylists' chain by the ominous name of Kinki only, but maybe you're lucky with more reasonable resellers.

I am in bad need of a haircut and I haven't greased up my pomp in quite a few weeks but when I do, I use Murray's Original Pomade, orange can. Be ware, this stuff is heavy and it does not wash right out. I have to quit greasing for about a week before I go for a cut but at $3.50 a can, you can't beat the price! I get it at my barber shop << Avenue Barbershop, South Austin, Texas >> but you can find it at walgreens also.

VO5 don't seem to make a darn bit of difference to my hair what I use, sometimes I pickup something at a local dollar store and that works great. I guess I am lucky.

If you want super strong, get some Murray's super strong. You'll need a hairdryer to soften it. I also use a heated metal comb. Good stuff, and rather inexpensive.
