Thanked: 131Our changing times: a retrospective view
I've been watching a program on TV just now called 'Man on Wire' and have really enjoyed it.
YouTube - Man On Wire
Before today I didn't even know it had happened. It was in 1974- before I was born.
The thing is I look back on it now and think 'How would we have reacted to that today? Would we look on it in the same way?' Many people watched in awe and admiration back then. Afterwards he was arrested and later released without charge. Would that happen today? Would there be some terrorism charge? I dont pretend to know about the legal system in the states or elsewhere so i'll leave others to tell me that.
I know that in more recent times we have seen 'Jump London'
YouTube - Jump London parkour seq, orig. C4 music. Director: Mike Christie.
Granted its not quite on the same scale as 'Man on Wire', but my point is these are both things that the powers that be would take a dim view of.
In a similar vein is this recent piece of footage:

The gentleman in question does some amazing stunts with a bike. He does however take pieces of the street apart and makes alternete use of various street paraphenilia
My question for you to ponder: Is the tightening of security internationally and at home suppressing our freedom to express ourselves?
