Thread: My pockets are getting full!

I've just taken to carrying as little as possible. I have only a car key (no house key), credit cards, and iPhone. I may have a little cash on me, but it's rare. I hate having things in my pocket, and if I had to carry much more than that, I'd definitely get a man bag

Yeah, cargo pants are a good option. I'm not above wearing a fanny pack though and if I've got any papers or books to carry I'll load everything into my knock off Israeli Paratrooper satchel. The keys clip onto a carabiner attached to a chord and strung from the exterior strap for quick extraction.

When in doubt, I check surplus shops. My favorite is the Army Barracks, and they happen to have a smallish bag on the cheap. Army Barracks - A True Army Navy Store - Surplus - Genuine Military - Bags & Packs - Belgian Engineer’s Bag New

I got myself a "Nite Ize" backbone case. They're excellent and not very expensive. Love the thing. I have the #3 Carries my (rather large) mobile phone, wallet, Leatherman Charge+bitset keys and a small flashlight.
This is their website: Nite Ize: Product Detail
Leaves my pockets empty for 1 key (car) and 1 or 2 pocketknives.
(Hey...they're POCKETknives afterall.)

How much of the junk you carry around do you really need? I could carry 4 electronic key/code generators with me at all times, but most of them are bulky and some I only use in specific situations. I used to have tons of keys on my keychain, and when the thing became too bulky I had a look and noticed a number that could be taken off. Same with my wallet: receipts I take out and every now and then I have a look and see if there are any lost business cards and unused plastics in there.
So fortunately I still manage without an additional bag.

Thanked: 234I'm not really sure, I tend to have my wallet and a phone in each pocket with a pocket knife in with the wallet. keys in the back pocket.
My wallet doesn't have a space for change, this serves two purposes, it makes me save my change and it means I don't have all the extra weight.

I would seriously get rid of the one to your house. Especially if it does the security system too. Every time I see that ADT commercial where the woman with her arms full pushes a button on her key chain and disarms her security system while still in the drive I cringe. If some mugger stole her purse he would have her address plus her keys and they way to turn her security system off without entering a code. Hello easy rape! The point to having to enter a code in a minute is so you can enter, lock the door behind you, and then enter the code. I would rather have enough time while the system is still armed to clear the house quickly then deactivate it but I can understand why that feature doesn't exist as well.
I don't carry any electronic fobs at all, keys are good enough and I need one for the ignition anyway, I even replaced my car key it had a big plastic end I got a plain metal one made so it would fit my pocket better.

Ditto, find out how much of that junk you don't need! My car (Cadillac STS) uses the Fob for ignition (no key needed). I carry that and a house key (in case power is out/garage door opener doesn't respond). Try to keep my wallet as slim as possible. I keep a 2nd wallet in the house with all the stuff I "need" but not on a regular basis, then if I'm going on a trip or whatever I can load up my normal wallet with specific stuff.
Wallet, pocket knife, and 1 key fob. that's it! Oh and phone goes on a belt holster.

Thanked: 235My wife just bought me a clip on pouch for my cell phone that goes onto my belt. This makes my pockets a lot lighter.
