    Default Story Thread

Inspired by Ice Dog I though I would share a couple of pages of my short story. None of this is true, the addresses are fake, and as far as I know these people do not live in KY. I planned the format to be exactly as it is written.

    Dave Mangino

    Judy Freemont
    61 B St.
    Falmouth, KY 41020

    Dear Judy:

Thank you for your last letter and I hope that you will pardon my frankness, but who the hell are you?

I received a very personal letter from you, that my wife read before me I might add, and as I explained vehemently to her I do not know who you are or where you get the dates that you reference that we were together.

My wife insisted that I send your letter to the police and have you investigated for identity theft, or have a restraining order placed upon you. I told her that your letter was coherent and lucid and that I should try to talk to you before I involve the police and other legal matters.

As to your letter, firstly, you are right that I attended that college and that my fiancée at the time was a fine woman by the name of Kennedy. However you are mistaken as to the fact that I was and am now married to her. In point of fact, it pains me to say, she was killed on an icy road in December as she drove back to the campus from her home in the Berkshires. I attended the funeral and identified the body. She was not scarred or disfigured or mangled in any way that would have diminished my identification. Secondly, yes I did major in Sociology and indeed I am now a practicing attorney and have been for some 10 years now. This information is available at my firm’s website as is my curriculum vitae. Thirdly, you are mistaken that there were children born from my association with Kennedy. Kennedy and I were that close despite our religious upbringing, however, Kennedy was having “problems” of a female type and I accompanied her to the ER wherein they diagnosed her with severe fibroids. I took her to see her doctor who scheduled her for a hysterectomy prior to her death. It was performed with no complications. Finally I was never arrested either during college or in my professional life for solicitation madam. Such an accusation is preposterous and potentially damning to my career and family.

I wish you well in your pursuits, wherever they may take you. I do not expect a reply to this letter, but if one arrives it will be read and forwarded to the authorities for proper action. Please do not attempt to contact me in any way from this day forward.

    Regards,

    Dave Mangino

    Dear Judy:

As I said in my previous letter I have turned your letter over to the authorities. I am also pursuing legal remedies through my firm. A restraining order will be issued against you in the coming days and if you persist in your allegations I will seek a lawsuit for slander.

Please cease your communication with me.

You are not my daughter, your mother was not my fiancée and Kennedy died many years ago. That memory is painful and I will thank you to keep it private.

    Regards

    Dave Mangino

Recorded Phone conversation transcribed at the office:

BPD: Belfast Police Department, Officer Mitchell.
DM: Yes this Dave Mangino, attorney, and I need to speak to someone there about possible harassment or stalking and slander.
BPD: Are you saying that someone is stalking, harassing, and/or slandering you?
DM: Well I have received two letters over the last couple of weeks from a woman that purports to be my daughter from my first fiancée...
BPD: The police department makes it a policy to not involve themselves in domestic disputes sir.
DM: If you had let me finish. My fiancée died many years ago and was in no condition to birth children. This person, if I may use the term, is no relation of mine.
BPD: Let me transfer you to Sergeant Hagstrom, hold please.
    SH: Sergeant Hagstrom
DM: Yes, Sergeant, my name is Dave Mangino, attorney. I am in need of help with person who claims to be my daughter from my dead fiancée.
SH: As I am sure the desk officer told you…
DM: Yes, you do not handle domestic disputes. My fiancée died and did not have the ability to bear children. This person is making wild accusations and is causing strain to my marriage. I would like it stopped.
SH: Can you send me the letters sir. I will have them investigated.
DM: I will mail them today. The downtown office correct?
SH: Yes that address will do.

    Dear Mr. Mangino:

I have forwarded the letters to my lieutenant who is looking into the allegations that are being made in the letter.

Furthermore I phoned the residence that was provided in the letters, oddly the phone was out of service. I had a patrol car do a routine stop at the address listed. It is a gas station near the county line. The attendant, Mr. Adams, has worked there for 30 years and has never heard of Judy Freemont. He stated that he has lived in the area all his life and he has never become familiar with a Freemont, Judy or otherwise.

We are working on checking her background and will send out another letter in 30 days to let you know the outcome of that investigation. In the mean time please forward all communications from her to this office.

    Sgt. Jeffrey Hagstrom

Right now it is 17 pages. So not that short, but too long to post the entire thing. The ending is cool and the plot twist is nice.

Here is another from another story that I am working on. The story is called Five and Dime. Five and Dime is a strip club so here is a strip scene. Don't worry it is not graphic. Let me know what you think. Dad is the owner and Boss is the 6'6" 300 pound bouncer.

Lydia walked quietly and with purpose to the back corner and began undressing from her blue jeans, t-shirt, and jacket that she wore to the club. Underneath her clothes she wore a shiny black suit of latex accompanied by thigh high leather boots; a perfectly shaved body was underneath that. She produced two whips and a CD from her bag and walked out to the DJ. She handed Arnold, the DJ, the burned CD and asked him to play track two, Happiness in Slavery by Nine Inch Nails. The music pulsed as Boss took up his position next to Dad. Lydia appeared in a flash of light a crack of whip that deafened the sparse audience and grabbed any attention that they had left.
Slave screams he thinks he knows what he wants
She crawled languidly; whip in her teeth, toward a young twenty something in the front row. She noticed he had a fresh beer that had not been opened.
Slave screams thinks he has something to say
She removed the whip and grabbed the beer top in her mouth while she grabbed a chair with her hand. She set the chair down and the beer in the seat of the chair.
Slave screams he hears but doesn't want to listen
She twirled herself around the pole letting the whip gather momentum a glint of silver could be seen on the popper of the whip. She stopped and with the added momentum to the whip she sliced the neck off the bottle with a deafening crack of glass and CO2.
Slave screams he's being beat into submission
She kicked the chair toward the young man and he jumped back as if he had just been lit on fire. The bottle parts seemed to float in mid air before they crashed onto the floor. Lydia then turned her attention to the nearest pole and began sliding, winding, and wrapping herself around the metal phallus. Grinding it like two dry humping highschoolers.
Don't open your eyes you won't like what you see
the devils of truth steal the souls of the free
don't open your eyes take it from me
    I have found
    you can find
    happiness in slavery

She dropped her bottle breaking whip and grabbed the next whip that was wrapped around her waist. Unfurling the soft, supple leather snake she noticed another man next to the stage smoking a horrendously smelling cigar. She twirled and cracked the cigar in half, snapping the man from his daze of the nubile woman.
Slave screams he spends his life learning conformity
She dropped to her knees and crawled to another man on the other side of the stage, the whip stuck between her breasts and the painted latex.
Slave screams he claims he has his own identity
When she arrived at the man she made a sucking motion with her finger pointing at the whip handle. The man removed the whip with some force tearing away bits of the latex revealing more of the young women and shoved the handle into her mouth hard enough to resist breaking any teeth but hard enough to notice that they may break. She reared up on her legs, knees bent on the floor.
Slave screams he's going to cause the system to fall
She twirled her head and snapped the whip at the man’s hat sending the Stetson flying.
Slave screams but he's glad to be chained to that wall
She stood all the way up letting the whip trail on the ground still in her mouth. She wound the whip around one leg and gave it a tug ripping bits of latex off the right leg all the way up to waist.
Don't open your eyes you won't like what you see
the blind have been blessed with security
don't open your eyes take it from me
    I have found
    you can find
    happiness in slavery

She crawled over to the first young man, whose beer she broke, picked up a shard of the glass from the bottle and rolled onto her back.
    I don't know what I am I don't know where I've been
human junk just words and so much skin
stick my hands through the cage of this endless routine
just some flesh caught in this big broken machine

She began cutting the back flesh from her body. She cut a piece of the nipple from her breast and flicked it to the man. She stood up fully, dropped the whip and with both hands ripped the latex from her torso to tops of her thighs, leaving nothing to the imagination. The music stopped and she left the stage gathering her whips and CD from Arnold. She walked to the back room and started to dress. The other girls, she noticed were staring at her with their mouths open. She dressed quickly grabbing her stuff. She felt better more secure in herself by the time she reached the backroom door. She opened the door and ran into Boss.
“Where you going Lydia” He asked, “Dad wants to see you”
Her expression changed to fear. Had she gone too far, was it too much what she did to the patrons? What would this Dad person say?
She approached Dad and Boss took her bag. Dad was smiling, almost laughing. “I like you kid, that was one hell of a show.” He flipped fifty bucks on the table and Boss picked it up and smiled. “We had a bet. I bet you’d puke on stage or after. Boss here said that you were determined enough to not puke. So you want a job?”

I will keep working on them.

Problem is, and granted this is going to sound strange, The characters have not been visiting be lately. I think I have had both of those on my desk for the better part of a year.

Usually what happens is that a character will pop into my head and start telling me a story. No this is not auditory. I have to quick write it down and then they will stick with me for a while then leave. Sticking me with a half finished story.

The Mangino story in the beginning. I have a beginning and an end with no middle. So I have to finish the middle.

The other story I have a beginning and a middle, with no end.

    It happens like that sometimes.

How was the strip scene out of curiosity?

    Good stuff.

Small point: slander is a falsehood that is spoken, libel is written falsehoods in regards to one's character, etc.. If her allegations are only made via letters, I believe it qualifies as libel only, not slander.
