Thanked: 293Ever smelled a dog's paws? Hey.. you said odd. But really, they have the smell of rawhide in a way, only not dead.
Also, I like the smell of the inside of a newly opened tennis ball canister. That's a weird one.
Also also, OLD_SCHOOL nailed it. When those first few drops of rain hit the ground (though I would call this a great smell and not odd) is one of my favorite smells.

Fresh black top, vulcanized rubber, bleach (especially cold bleach, like when you bleach a cooler in a restaurant and walk in 20 minutes later).
Mountain air at elevation.

+1 on skunk. I got my shirt sprayed once while pulling one I trapped out of the barn. That was a little strong for my taste. But I take a deep breath when I smell skunk driving down the road. I suppose having them under the house, in the barn and under our school house, at different times as a kid, kind of made the smell grow on me. The smell actually makes me a little nostalgic.

Forgot to add Consort hairspray, Marlboro lights, day old percolator coffee grinds, and the smell of lake water. That would be like hanging out with my deceased uncle all over again. Just putting that down makes me miss him.

When I was a kid (before xerox photocopier machines) we would sniff the mimeograph test sheets from the teacher.
We also loved to ride our bicycles behind the mosquito spray fogger truck. We liked the smell, and we thought the fog cloud was cool.
There was an ice cream truck that would drive slowly through the neighborhood in the summer and sell to the kids. It had a loud speaker that played music so you could hear it coming. The old codger that drove the truck smoked cigars. He would open up the freezer door on the side of the truck and frosty fog would pour out and mix with the cigar smoke creating a memorable smell as we waited in line.
