I have been wondering about that book, thanks for the heads up.
On a related subject,
I've always wanted to know more about Masons, but I am afraid that many of the sources on the internet are not very reliable or usefull. Any masons out there who wouldn't mind giving me a little info (I'm interested in anything you have to say from history to debunking of myths etc.) send me a PM I'd love to learn something.
Thanks
Dave

First off, I would like to recommend Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. In my opinion (and even though I'm only 20, I've powered through quite a library) it's a much better book than the Davinci Code.
2nd: Would you say the new one is worth buying new, or should I wait a while until it's become nice and cheap on Amazon?

I would suggest contacting the local masonic lodge in your area and I'm sure they would be happy to answer any question about the masons you have if they can
that is entirely up to you I will say it is a great read and a page turner like I said in my post earilier It has kept me up many night till 1 am or later

As with anything on the Internet, it's hard to tell whether you are getting good information or drivel. Sadly, drivel seems to be the most common.
For good general information on Freemasonry, there are loads of good sites, some from official Masonic bodies other run privately by Brothers.
Anti-Masonry: Points of View- good information site about what is and what is not Freemasonry (just because you call your little group "Masonic" doesn't make it so).
Redirect to Supreme Council, 33°, S.J., USA - Home page of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry
FREEMASONS MAGAZINE | PS Review of Freemasonry - Excellent site containing references, white papers, books, etc.
Freemason Information Masonic Magazine - a great site with blogs and articles from Freemasons
As for Dan Brown's book - while Mr. Brown will never be considered great literature and the theme seems to be the same as his previous books (good guy looks for bad guy(s) in a conspiracy with lots of symbolism, running at a break-neck pace) - very formulaic - Lost Symbol does portray Freemasonry in a positive light, even if there are inaccuracies. The best quote I have heard is "historical fiction is to history as science fiction is to science"...and Mr. Brown is no Arthur C. Clarke.
If you have other questions about Freemasonry, please ask - either here or in a PM. Glad to help!

Wirebeard once again thanks for being a good ambassador to our great fraternity.
Del1r1um there are a couple of threads here that go into masonry a little that you might serch for.
As for Dan Brown I just finished the lost symbol and loved it. I still like Angles and Demons the best. I think the DaVinci code is good just not A&D good. I read A&D during the death of John Paul II so it was all realvant at the time. I thik Dan Brown books are very thought provoking and they cause me to ask too many questions. These are sometimes unpopular in at church.
I realize Dan Brown may never be considered a great author by most but he has that rank in my modist libary He can hold my attention longer than most. I also usualy like his subject matter as well as the fact that there is little sap just speed, action, and as accurate of history as he can make entertaining.
By the way if Dan Brown would ever read this, no more movies please just concentrate on the next book.

Thanked: 735I had though the book was about Kieth Moon looking for a missing part of his drum kit after a week long bender.
I was quite dissapointed in the book, as it was mostly strange fantasy and wierdness about a lost symbol, not a book about a lost cymbal....
thumbs down!
