Nerves
Has anyone here ever slept the wrong way on a limb and experienced lack of mobility due to a pinched or compressed nerve? Last night I awoke after three hours to a significantly reduced ability to extend the fingers and wrist of my right hand. My arm's in a splint at the moment.

I occasionally wake up with a 'crick' in the neck and it limits the movement of my neck.

It happens to me now and again. I can offer no advice though. I just learned to live with it.

I was playing minor league baseball the first time that happened to me. I woke up in the middle of the night and rolled over, and my right arm just flopped over and slammed into the night stand (sounded hard) without any feeling or any control. Talk about panic time. Luckily, the blood returned to my arm, and after a while the pinched nerve got back to normal and I regained full control of my hand after about one solid scary hour.

This happens to me often. My guess is that I sleep so soundly that even when my arm or leg is losing circulation, I cannot be shaken from my peaceful slumber. When I wake up and notice it, it is no big deal. If it's my arm, I just let it flail around until it wakes up. That tingling is bad sometimes, but oh well. If it's my leg, I have to be careful to weight my body away from it while stumbling around, lest my knee buckle and I fall upon my leg in a crumpled heap.

I thought it was asleep at first also, but I went to the doctor and was told it was likely to do with the radial nerve. I'm told it'd supposed to heal up over days, or in rare instances, maybe longer.

You don't say if your back or neck is involved but the radial nerve originates at the neck.
A good osteopath or chiropractor might help speed things up.The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

They're apparently going to have me go back in for some tests with a plastic surgeon and someone from neurology to see where the problem lies; but the doctor I spoke with said he sees this quite regularly and that time is what fixes the condition in most cases. That's why I thought I'd ask if anyone had experienced anything similar. I had never gone to an ER for a personal issue before, so I'm sort of nervous. It's been slightly less than 24 hours since I first noticed this, though, so...

Thanked: 369Well, sometimes I'm in the "throne room" so long my legs go numb. Does that count?
