Sorry, just kidding around. But I'm of the camp that supported (and supports) Obama in most of his policies (with a few noteworthy exceptions) but feels he has done nothing to deserve this prize. Yet. I hope, dearly and sincerely, that this man will bring greater peace and justice to the world through his leadership. Time will tell. It just hasn't told us enough yet.

Let me ask it this way:

Your team is playing in the world series. It's the bottom of the 9th inning; your team is ahead by one run; and there are 2 outs. The opposing team is batting and has a runner on first. Their batter hits a shot that looks to be a sure home run. If it is, two runs will score, and your team will lose. As fate would have it, a large bird flies directly into the path of the ball, causing it to drop within the confines of the playing field, where it's caught for the final out by your team's outfielder. As a result, your team wins the world series.
Now exactly how upset are you going to be that your team won under those circumstances? Or are you going to be happy over the fact your team just won the grand prize of baseball, albeit in a totally unexpected fashion?

Yes, once we reconcile to ourselves that the Nobel prize committee is no more relevant than a bird passing through a baseball game, then nobody will be upset or even notice who wins their prizes

He was honored with an award previous to the fleece...I mean peace... award...he was elected President of the United States.

As far as I know he didn't ask to be given the award. He got it and since I was not selected to be among the judges who choose the recipient I'll give those who were selected the benefit of the doubt and assume that he deserved the award. Just my 2 cents.

You're just ignoring what I said, and repeating yourself, and if you are going to do that, there's no point asking the question.

I said I'm upset they cheapened the award. That wasn't your point.

I said I'm upset this undermines our president (who doesn't need any help in that area). That wasn't your point.

If you don't agree that this cheapens the award or undermines your president then we simply disagree, but I'm trying to explain that your interpretation of why people are bothered by this is inaccurate.

I'm surrounded by democrats in my office and they don't like this either, so it's not a partisan thing.

It's true. There are a few reasons we are all ****ed off too. The main one for me is that now, should Obama do anything spectacular (as we all hope he will), what is the best that could happen? A Nobel Peace Prize supposedly.

I just feel like this is the world's biggest offense of "Putting the cart before the horse"

bad analogy. When you root for your team, your only goal is for it to win. The Nobel Prize isn't a sport that you root for your team to win. But I think that's pretty obvious.
