Default Ancient history buffs...This thread is for you

Okay, I love ancient history and all things surrounding it but I am not familiar with this little tidbit:
Vanished Persian Army Said Found in Desert : Discovery News

I plan on thoroughly familiarizing myself with it when I have a little time but thought I would post it here for others who enjoy their ancient history.

I thought it would be about Vietnam .... it was sooo long ago.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Very cool! I've read the "Histories" but I don't recall that particular story, either.

I never knew you were so biased gugi. None of your posts up until now even revealed a possible bias. Have you fallen from your ivory tower? Say it ain't so.

Bias? I just want a fair and balanced news, not some taxpayer dollar mooching tomb robber's story! I refuse to accept any story that only the mainstream media reports, if it's any good Fox will carry it!!!!

here, some more !!!! and even more !!!!!

"A wind arose from the south, strong and deadly, bringing with it vast columns of whirling sand, which entirely covered up the troops and caused them wholly to disappear," wrote Herodotus.

So, how is it that the entire Persian army gets buried alive, and yet Herodotus escapes unharmed?

It's the origin of liberal media bias! The knee-jerk liberal Herodotus is an obviuos example--if the ancient Greeks invented Democracy, that must mean they are also behind the invention of Democrats!
