    Default Can you hear this?

What's the highest you can hear?

From Can you hear THIS? Musicians high frequency hearing test | NoiseAddicts music and audio blog

I'm 30 (I know I know, I don't act like it) and I cannot hear the 16kHz or higher. I don't suppose this really tells me much on its own, but I thought it was mildly interesting anyway

    33. I seemed to be able to get them all, despite plenty of power tool use until recently.

I was listening through headphones though.

I could hear 18 but not 19, lsitening through laptop speakers. I am 35, and have been to a million or so Punk and Ska shows, used to spend a lot of my mispent youth in the biggest loudest clubs in NYC, and have generally not been nice to my ears.
I wonder if listening through good speakers at home would make any difference?

Tell you the truth, after reading the article, I am surprised I did as well as I did.

I couldn't hear anything above 15 and I am 39, The older you are the lower frequencies you can hear, I wonder if this holds true for older fellas than I.

I'd thank you but you've ruined my day. 15kHz and I'm done. Hey, I have tinnitus so I'm hearing this stuff 24 hours a day. What was that you said ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

My SWAG is that your audio equipment will affect on the results, depending on how high quality your equipment is. Each link in the audio chain will affect the spectrum, especially on high frequencies. So, don't lose your sleep if you can't hear those squeaks - it might be your equipment. =)

EDIT: I'm confusing myself. I do wish the files were in a lossless format instead of MP3.

Hopefully it's just crappy laptop speakers, I'll try with headphones.

With headphones I could hear 16-20 but not 17 but just barely and at full volume.
