Day The Music Died
I have often wondered how many members here, like me, are at or near that age where you qualify for the senior discount everywhere in town. How about a simple question that would date us. Not looking for real specific or private information just whatever you might care to share. Add whatever you like or change the question if you want to.
Question: Where were you the Day The Music Died?
Me: 12 year old grammar school student and ardent daydreamer in the nice little town of Auburn, CA.

I get the senior discount now legitimately. My friends had a laugh when we went to a buffet and the cashier automatically gave me the senior discount when I was in my late fifties. In '59 I was 10 years old in Miami,FL.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

i am too young as i was born in '83. so i have an off topic question here. how old should you have to be to get a seniors discount?
i run a health food store and i set the age at 65 as i thought that was normal, but Shoppers Drug Mart does the last monday of every month as seniors day and the age is 55. i don't consider that a senior but maybe i have the wrong perspective. i have also had customers argue that it should be 60, which i think is still too young though i usually give the 10% off to keep them happy (unless they are being jerks).
again sorry for the off topic but it is what came to mind

There is much speculation of what Don McLean was referring to as the Day the Music Died. When the song came out, I was in my Junior year of college writing an essay on the song, for a Sociology class. It's interesting how the song has been interpreted over the years. I'd love to get into it but that would be another thread.

American Pie whereabouts.
Well...let's see, oh yes, I was 15 years old at the time working a part time job at Vaccaro's supermarket...yeap, American pie played almost none stop at a local radio station, and to think of it,
I started shaving with my dads DE and a can of goo.
