Thanked: 235I'm giving up shaving...
Yes, that's right. I'm giving up shaving, but only temporarily. And of course with my wife's permission.
What is this all about? The school I work at is having an open house day in December to lure in potential new students and give our current students a day of fun. During this day each of us foreign teachers are expected to have a booth showing our national culture. Anyway, as an Australian I find Australian culture to be a little boring. I mean I don't want to be standing next to a picture of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and a Koala and giving out small toy kangaroos. Boring.
So anyway, I was planning of opening a small barber shop for the day. I will be showing real mans' shaving culture. I'm going to have a couple of straights, strops and hones on display. I'm also going to get one of the gay students to give hair cuts to the customers (my students). Then for their shave the students will blow up a balloon, draw a face on their balloon and the balloon will get the shave. And at the end of the day the grand finalle will be me shaving myself. This is where temporarily quitting shaving comes in. I want to make sure that when I shave myself I have enough of a beard to make it look good.
I'm going to try to get pictures of the day and post them here.

Sounds like a great idea Nathan. Your hairiness will certainly get their attention! At what stage will you be throwing your shrimps on the barby?

Thanked: 235Due to my cultural cringe there will be no shirmps on any barby. No kangaroos (unless anyone wants to donate or lend a roo strop) no koalas, no digeridoos, and no meat pies. I will however try to convince them that this is the way most Australians shave.

Thanked: 235I wish I could, but being a Muslim school I think that would be frowned upon.

Sounds like they want you to display your national culture, but without the essentials. (For essentials, read stereotypes!)
You have a fun day anyway, & be careful not to lop off any of the corks hanging from your hat!
