Bean-to-cup machine by Saeco. A godsend at 5.00 am when the last thing I want to do is mess about with grinding, tamping, pulling, etc.
And it has saved me a fortune in buying the equivalent from barristas.
Espresso machine at home.
French Press in college.
Moka pot on the fire when in the woods.
It depends on the coffee and if it is the weekend or workday.
French Press. Fingers crossed on getting a new one as I broke my old one.
in a bunn coffee pot it can make 12 cups before i can turn around and set down, i like mine black no sugar.
The guy down at the corner store makes mine.
Filter drip machine. Big one at home. Little one at the office.
I have to say, at work, noone drinks better coffee than I do :)
French press (I have several). Sometimes a moka pot. On my list is a Cona siphon brewer...:)
I roast and grind my own. I use a Technivorm to brew.
I am sorry, but I just have an electric coffee pot and a bean grinder. We's too po' for expresso machines and all that these days.
Nice post though.
I don't understand half of those options in the poll...but I use a French Press.
My Manservant Gustav FINALLY figured out how to make a decent cup, after utterly exhausting my thrashing arm...the nerve!
But who knows how he does it? Who has time to deal with such...common...things as making coffee?
Espresso machine.
None of the above....
Melita (#4, paper filter) ... I get properly roasted coffee ground finer than the shop recommends and make a single large cup in a #4 cone filter. By getting the grind fine the filter slows down just enough that the coffee and water have time to do their thing. The clean up is easy and the coffee is way up there.
I do have the luxury of a local roaster.... and based on what was roasted in front of me I try this and that roast and bean.
If I want a second cup I add about half the ground coffee I used the first time to the same filter and add some more boiling water.
Part of the secret is the electric water kettle that quickly boils water then shuts itself off -- no burnt coffee pot, no too loud bo-jangle whistling tea kettle.
The poll left out the vacuum pot method.
I use a Hario vac pot. Makes a wonderful cup of coffee.

I use this set up:

the only way to make coffee, PERKED!!
the only way to make coffee is to PERK it!!
:cry::whipped: :rofl2:
Using the Ground beans more than once seems to me to make Incredibly bitter coffe but who am I to judge :)
Difference in words.. a don Pedro is a vacuum pot and that's what I usually call all of them (quite wrong I know)
Same here. Press can/Presso can = French press.
The bare filter option I honestly missed.:(
Modified Rancilio Silvia, DeMoka grinder, Espresso beans produced by a friend of mine. Thankfully, we have a professional espresso machine at work, too.
Coffee at home is made expresso style on an italian expresso coffee pot. I drink it without any cream, two teaspool full of brown turbinated sugar. Like I am doing now. On the go....I buy it at Starbucks, no sugar with a dash of half and half.
That I really want as a Christmas present :D
I think what you are describing as a mocca brewer. I use that too atm since I cant afford a nice espresso machine on a students earnings.
Btw favorite coffe: Molinari espresso oro roasted whole beans.
Well, get it. Probably the best home machine for that sort of money. The new line has the professional portafilter and some other goodies. Here is a great review of it. The Minimoka is a nice grinder, and you can get some very decent deals for it in the US.
i just got a french press this past weekend and i love it, other than that its expresso machine (just a cheap walmart type) but i like it. after seeing the picture i really wanna try that vacuum coffee maker thingy just cause it looks cool, anyone know where to get one? im gonna check amazon.com now:)

Hario used to have a US website where you could order directly from them, but I don't think it's operating. If you can't find one on Amazon, you can order Hario vacuum pots from these folks: Hario Syphon Siphon / Vacuum Pots, Nouveau 3, Tech 3/5, Deco, Coffee Drip Pot, Coffee Mill | Avenue 18 - Fine Tea Merchant|Richmond, Vancouver,BC Canada. If you decide to buy from them, stock up on extra boxes of the paper filters at the same time. Their shipping charges to the states are a bit rich, so get all you need in one order...
I take my coffees like this:
espresso with lemon rind only
Coffee Latte with 1/2 & 1/2
Tea's
plain or with honey
My machines
Rancillo Rocky Grinder set to very fine
Rancillo Silva in stainless
2 cup serving French Press
Moka Pot (Bialetti)
Cusinart Drip
What can I say I like coffee.
I also like tea, I like Monkey Picked white tea, and the crazy green bud tea I get from Thailand.
I like beer too..hehe
Cheers
D:beer2:
You all spend too much time on coffee - go play with some razors!
Try to shave 4x a day ;)
I used to drink more, but I drink it black so it's a little bitter on the stomach when you drink too much. My stomach hurts if I drink too much coffee, so I usually drink 2-3 coffees a day, and a lot of tea.
But I still NEED my coffee in the morning. I'm a cafeine junky.
We just bought a new coffee machine because the other one we had was really big and my dad is only home a couple days a week and we don't need somthing that makes soo much coffee and when I drink it I only drink a cup or 2. So my mom bought a smaller one that is supposed to make 5 cups but it makes like 1 and a half of my dads mug.
-my dad likes bigger mugs, his is like a 20oz I believe.
Coffee is a sort of hobby for me. I could stop any time. Really. I just don't want to. Really I could stop...:needcoffee:
I had a Vac Pot on my wish list this year along with an aeropress. I'm sure I'll have both before long.
Roaster: Modified counter top rotisserie drum, 3lb capacity. I only ever roast 1-1.5 pounds at a time. I'm the only one in the house drinking coffee.
>Primary: Simac espresso machine / stepless Kitchenaid Pro line grinder
>Turkish:
Zass mill, 5 different cezve's for different amounts coffee
>French Press
>I have a stovetop Bellman Cappa pot that has a steam wand that's pretty cool. Very nice to have camping.
>Various Moka pots. My favorite is a stainless one.
>I have a cool old copper stovetop drip pot that you invert when the water is boiling. I've only used it once. Drip isn't my favorite.
We have a Krups drip machine that collects dust on top of our fridge until we have house guests. Of course I pull shots, and make cappa's for them, but some people just want drip coffee.
never have been much of a coffee drinker..just once in a while and mostly when it was extremely cold.....after watching the movie "the bucket list" i will NOT be inclined to drink any exotic coffees either...:D
French Press thingy
Don't know if one of those options were just another name for it. It's the contraption you pour coffee ground into, then hot water, then press down a metal mesh/strainer thing.
For 1 cup I use a French Press
For more the 1 when I am in the mood to drink I use a Perc.
Im at the 4 cup a day avg.
