Thanked: 143Despite the article's preemptive disclaimer, I think it is wishful thinking.
Both demographics and the Left's capture of our education system are probably insurmountable. It's true that the poster boy for the Left is below 50% in the polls but look at the demographics of who is on either side of the divide.
At least that's how I think in my darker moods.
EDIT: Just checked Rasmussen. There is still some hope for the younger generation:The President’s Approval Index rating is -2 among voters under 30 and -29 among senior citizens.
So there is some hope for the younger generation. That's as of Dec 13. I Think Obama's negatives were overall -13/14 at that point.
The racial divide is more pronounced:
The President earns approval from 37% of White voters and 98% of African-American voters.

jms, as long as there is ONE person who says, "I have nothing, let's share" there will be liberalism.

Thanked: 143Well, if it's truly nothing then, maybe.
Liberalism is more like "Hey, you made better choices in life, worked harder, and are doing better than I am so gimme some!"
But even THAT misrepresents things. True Liberalism is: "Hey, we made better choices in life, worked harder, and are doing better than that guy over there so why don't YOU give him some of YOURS? To be sure you cooperate despite your inherent meanness, let's make it a law, establish a federal department to refine and administer the rules (backed by the full might and power of the federal government) and give the contracts to the unions and other leftist organizations since they donated to the cause and this will keep them (and the recipients of your largess) in our camp for the next elections. This is a crises we can't waste!"
OK, not as catchy as yours.Last edited by TexasBob; 12-19-2009 at 03:43 PM.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could just have a Darwinian society where only the strong survive. There is hope. I heard a report on NPR that family homelessness is rising dramatically. The compassionate conservatism or the Bushies almost destroyed the New Deal but not quite. Pity he couldn't get the American people to buy into investing their social security into the stock market where his pals like 'Kenny boy' of Enron fame were screwing all of their employees. If we could only get rid of the tax and spend democrats and just have the cut taxes and spend more republicans we would be destitute in no time. Sweet dreams.
Edit; the above post by a centrist democrat in the spirit of the revered FDR, LBJ and RFK is pure sarcasm.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 12-20-2009 at 04:04 AM.

Just to clarify if you were referring to my post above, I am an FDR democrat at heart. I am no longer a registered dem. My voter's card reads 'no party affiliation' because there are very few FDR democrats left. Seems to me that there are mostly Bank Of America democrats and republicans for the past thirty years and more coming in year after year.
