    Thumbs up Japan Woodworker/Sushi Books

I was just going through the Japan Woodworker to order a Pro Shapton 12000 grit stone and then looked as some Sushi Knives. Lo and Behold, they even have instructional books for making Sushi......Gotta Get me one of these!!!! Wowza. Any other Sushi fans out there??? Lynn

My wife is a whiz at making that stuff (she's Japanese), my whole family/neighborhood likes it, but alas....I am allergic. At least I'm not allergic to beer :-)

I like sushi. More of a fan of sashimi and nigiri sushi than rolled sushi. We're talking about doing home-rolled sushi, or some sort of iron chef theme for New Years.

I've got to agree with Sensei Kyle here. Like sushi, but when I get the opportunity (rare in E. Central Alabama ) I much prefer sashimi.

    Unhappy

I'm a big Sushi fan. I used to go to a place in Sacramento where the chef would go to San Francisco every morning and buy the fresh fish. Alas he has moved to the bay area. Now I go to a local place, but it's not as good.

Lynn - JWW is a good company. They have some cool stuff there. I want to alert you to the fact htat JWW sell the Japanese market Shaptons. They are formulated slightly differently from the USA version available from Shapton. The U.S. version is supposedly more durable and takes on less water. I doubt there is much of a difference. Also the US stone is marketed as 15k while the Japan version is 12k. One more thing. If you ever decide to get the compact lapping system, you should check both sites. The Japanese version is a little larger which is nice, but the USA version has this cool rubber stone holder that comes with it. DON'T USE THE GREY POWDERS THAT COME WITH THE PLATE.

Cool Larry. Thanks. I might end up testing the North Mountain Kityama 12K, but if I get the Shapton, it will be the Pro 12K. On the Sushi end, I like some rolls but way more a fan of the sashimi. Toro anyone??
