    Default Straigh Razor User Demographics

In a recent thread I was asking about the demographics of straight razor users. I think that the majority of straight razor users have a background in military, law enforcement and or firearms.

However it may be that people from this background are just more opinionated and post more, making is seem that there are more people from this demographic.

    This calls for a poll.

Right, I was an Army Cadet from 13-17 yrs and achieved marksmanship with the FNC1A1 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle so I voted yes on the first two options. Haven't gone near either in a quarter century, but appreciate deeply the lessons learned on both counts.

What would you consider a "collection" of knives?

For example, I have a half-dozen that I've bought or been given over the years, but in no way would I call myself a collector.

That's really up to you. If you would consider yourself to be a collector of knives then you are a collector. If you don't consider yourself to be a collector then you are not a collector.

All options, except the last seem to fit with me. I've been in a military service for about 20 years. Do not know what i'll do when grow up.

I wish more people would take the poll, Twenty five participants do not make a very good population for an accurate poll. Though I do find the preliminary results interesting.

Not to be critical but the poll is somewhat confusing because it is set up as a series of questions. If it was declarative more people might take it, i.e. "I am a collector of knives." Also in addition to 'none of the above' how about 'all of the above'.....?

I am a collector of knives and guns and like to use both. Unfortunately after enlisting in the military they found I had a congenital heart defect and I was honorably discharged. I watch war movies if they are good movies as with movies on any topic.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well... I served 10 years on active duty in the US Navy Submarine Force. I got out and served in two different branches of military reserves (Army and Navy) which bought me one trip to Afghanistan and two trips to Iraq. I'm in all those categories except one, I can no longer watch war movies. After seeing the ugly face of door to door combat I detest anything that glorifies war.

I never served in the military.
    I've never owned a gun.
I have a <2" blade folding EDC knife for boxes and letters.
I like war movies, but like Jimmy said, only if they're good movies (Braveheart, Bridge on the River Kwai, BAT-21, etc.)

I am subcontracted to a branch of the DOD currently, but that is only because I am a software consultant and said branch wanted to implement our software.

I own 20+ straight razors, and shave almost exclusively with them, and I am sure many members would agree that I am one of the more opinionated maniacs on this board.

It looks like I am one of the exceptions to the rule
