I'm really impressed, you're like a Jeweler's MacGyver. It was a neat idea turning it into a ring, but it's amazing how nice and shiney it is!

For what it’s worth, this is by no means my idea. Sailors have been doing this for centuries (well back in the day when coins were made of silver and gold anyway).
Also, it is “technically” a crime to destroy U.S. currency, but someone was correct in saying that the “spirit” of the law is to prevent counterfit and fraudulent currency. In case anyone cares here’s the statute: Title 18 United States Code, Section 331. So if anyone is wondeing about this urban legend there's the refrence to put your mind at ease. So now go destroy a coin
I’m glad you’ve found this a fun project. Maybe I’ll do more in the future.
How about going from this:

It is “Bottle Cap Damascus” to exact hahah… I think the pioneer of this was a knife maker by the name of Tai Goo. At least he was the first person I’ve heard of doing it.
Tai is an amazing blade smith, with skill to be reckoned with and one hell of a nice guy.
It would take far more than a couple of posts to do a tutorial on that however. Also it’s not the average “D.I.Y.” project unless you happen to have a forge, anvil, some borax and some skill at forge welding haha… I guess I could do a “build your own forge” thread haha??

You know, I cant seem to find an Avatar that I like... so I put that little beauty up for a while untill I can find something that catches my eye.
It's a wakisashi made of 1086 steel by Howard Clark, and hand polished by Brian Van Speyebroek. Here is the full image:
I'm not real crazy about it because as you can see it's a little too small to make out, so I'll be changing some time soon.
