Thread: My wife was right

Don't tell her! She told me after I bought my motorcycle about a year ago that I can't leave my things alone. No matter what it is, I want to "fix" it. Men, you'll be proud of me. I vehemently disagreed and pointed out why it needed fixing. I can't help it if things break, right?

Fast forward to last night when I was "window shopping" online for trucks. I found one that I really like, and without it even being my own, I started to decide on certain problems the truck had that would need to be fixed. Bear in mind this was a brand new truck.

Does anyone else suffer from this malady? Don't worry, I won't tell your wives.

I don't.

I call/pay somebody to fix things. The only thing I fix/build is computers and software.

I have office worker hands. I know. It's pathetic.

Please tell me you didnt let her know that!

I think those symptoms are familiar to me.
Not so much with the new stuff, but i have this obsession to put things into pieces, just to see and understand how it works. Been like that as long as i can remember.

ya thats me too. my parents were always amazed that i could actually put things back together after taking them apart. i still do it today. the only things that i draw the line on are some things to do with my car as i don't have the tools to do some things. i still c hange my brakes and tires and oil and such, but the electronics are too much. i do everything on my motorcycles though so i don't feel so bad .

my g/f doesn't even ask why i am taking things apart anymore, she knows its just cuz i want to. ha!

Hell no, I'm not that dumb. I would deny something like this to the end. If the tools are out, it's because something is clearly broken, even if the broken part happens to put out less horsepower than the new part about to be installed

i am a firm beliver if it aint broke dont fix it.

less horsepower does sound like it's broken to me

i have the same problem!.. my friend came over with a brand new bike one day i took one look at it and was already this needs to be fixed take this off you dont need this you need to get this part to fix this problem etc...... while i also belive if it aint broke dont fix it but i also belive in fix it before it breaks so you dont have to replace 2x as many parts

Brand new bikes come broken, it's just a fact. In all seriousness, there is so much you have to do to bikes to get them ready for whatever it is you're wanting to do. Dirt bikes need all sorts of preventative maintenance so they survive the first wipeout, and street bikes tend to need a few things just to prevent the first wipeout.

Now you've got me thinking about dirt bikes...man I miss that rush. My favorite memories are definitely flying high and fast, getting that motocross tunnel vision, and carving through a corner like it's nobody else's business.
