Default Game nostalgia: Duke Nukem 3D in opengl

    EDuke32 • Duke3D for Windows, Linux and OS X

I recently stumbled upon this website via slashdot. It is the source port of the duke 3d sources to modern platforms (it runs on Windows 7 64 bit but also linux) and uses opengl for rendering. it is also updated to be fully customizable for control via keyboard, mouse and joystick.

And what's even better, if you don't have the original duke game for the game content, you can buy a legal copy of duke3d online for only 3.95$

I just downloaded the game and the content, and it runs extremely well and smooth. Sure it's a bit outdated, but still tons of fun

Too bad Duke Nukem Forever got axed. I'm still hoping that the existing content and the rights will be bought by someone who will fnish the game. Duke was one of the most fun FPS games I've ever played.

Quake (or Doom even) in OpenGL would be a good find.

What a flashback, forgot about the duke. I've enjoyed Quake quite a bit...love the carnage of all of them!!

I love doom2 as well (playing legacy doom)
The fun thing about doom2 was that they did 'scary' extremely well, even with the limited options they had. and the music was scary as well. Add in the scenarios where dozens of demons storm you all at once and you've got a winner.

The beauty of the duke was the adult humor, and the variety of weapons: like the holo duke, pipe bombs, trip wires...
