Obligatory New Years Thread
Do you have any goals for the next year? Only short term goals need apply. If you can't get it done by this time in 2010, it doesn't belong here.
Right now I've only got one main goal, and that's to get a new job and make at least a certain amount of money this year. I've chosen what I think is an attainable goal, so I'll do my best to meet or exceed it.
My minor goal for the year is to make it through Moby Dick. I'm more optimistic about making more money than I am about getting through Moby Dick in a respectable amount of time, but I'm going to do it come hell or high water

I don't have anything that I think of as a goal, but I do have a lot that will be going on. I'm moving to a new apartment the second week in January. I'm hoping to have a buffer setup up and running by the end of January. I'm hoping I'll be able to pay all my bills off my razor work and whatever other work I can come across. I'm hoping the decision I'll have to make over the summer to keep working on razors full time or start teaching full time (as I would be now if I'd been able to get a job....) will be an easy one (either I'll get a job at a school I really like, or razor stuff will be good enough that I'll be living comfortably off it - I kinda feel bad about that last bit, seeing as I did my undergrad and graduate work to be a teacher, but I do love working on razors...).
Meh, I guess there are some goals in there: Buffer by the end of January, enough work to get by, real job over the summer.

+1 on getting through Moby Dick.
I've a few more to get through when I've read that. I would like to end 2010 with no credit card debt.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 2591I have been fairly lazy this year, but I will hit the gym with consistency and drop 20-25 lb to get back in shape.

Thanked: 137I have a couple of goals.
1. GRADUATE!!! I'vebeen at Uni for 5 years, and it's time I finished my degree and left.
2. Get a job, and save some money for a car.
3. Pay off my debts.
4. See a sports physician, get my legs fixed up, and lose 5-10kg
5. Find a job for after I graduate.
6. Keep in touch with my ex-workmates, rather than drifting away from them like I usually do.
7. Umpire at National U18 Field Hockey champs, National Uni games, National Master's games, and maybe a Secondary School tournament if a school wants to take me away for free (this will require doing at least the first half of #4 however).

+1 on paying off credit card and getting in better shape. Other goals are travel, trying to get a job somewhere in Europe, improving my honing, making and saving some money, getting my clothes in order - another suit, some casual stuff and shoes. That probably sounds like a strange goal but being able to dress properly for any occasion is easier said than done.
Oh, and to see an alien.
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

1. Get my credit debt under $2k. Not too hard.
2. Finish school. Should be obtainable, but just might go to next year. *crosses fingers*
3. I'm done with cigarettes. Today.
4. Mastro Livi. 'Nuff said?
5. SCTE Broadband Transport Specialist.
6. Make marked improvements to my honing abilities.
7. Not purchasing any more shaving soaps/creams. Probably won't make it to the end of the month.I have way more than I need.
8. Make my own lunch at least 3 times/week. I spend way too much on that.
9. Cut back on coffee consumption. I've had over 10 cups this morning. No guarantee I'll do it!
10. Boost 401K contribution 2%.
11. Read a lot more.
Then I go back to the OP and realize it's short term goals you're asking for to keep with the spirit of the thread. At least the cigarettes and 401k are short term.
Orange, I hope you find that new job you're looking for!
