Not a chance sport. You are nothing like Christ and certainly nothing like the title you use. Did people predict your birth hundreds to thousands of years before you came? Did anyone write thousands upon thousands of books about you? Has anyone ever said you healed the sick? Did anyone ever describe you of being without sin? Have people wanted to touch your clothing just to see if you would help them? Has anyone ever said you fed thousands of people? When you die, will anyone even know you existed?
BOth of us can agree on one things, the answers to all these questions from each of us is NO!
Bad examples from Wikipedia, a Cornellian PhD (or whatever you are) should know better and quote better educated sources. These do seem to illustrate your point though. As said above though, some people will never understand. Hence they call it faith, not fact or figures. Gentleman and scholar?

Bob Hope entertaining the troops in Viet Nam," I've got good news and bad news, the good news is that Christ is coming. The bad news is that he's really p!ssed off."

Probably a lot of truth to that little bit of gallows humor .... if it is true. Whether you believe that a member of a relatively small tribe of people who lived 2k years ago, with an unusual belief system involving blood sacrifice to a self proclaimed "jealous and vengeful" God is the deity is a matter of choice because certainly no one knows. No one alive that is.

A good read on the topic is here , Jesus: Apocalyptic Prophet of the New Millennium by Bart Ehrman.

Edit; Mark, you should have had one more choice in your poll, Maybe .... then I could have voted.

Gugi is right that this is a mess... Christology was a raging debate as early as the second century- and certain beliefs very contrary to modern Nicean orthodoxy were held in large parts of the Church...

Good things to look up on your next library visit would be Origen of Alexandria, Arius, Justin Martyr, and anything you can find related to the search "homoousious AND homoiousious" which is dealing with this very question: Is Christ of the father, One with the father, or a man?

    No he is not.
There is no 1st person (not even 2nd person) testimonies about that man being a God.

These threads really create a lot of very strong feelings for what I would consider a light hearted forum. I'm not sure what the intent of the original poster is, but my guess, from the title of the post, would be to stir up a hornets nest.

There seems to be at least one post like this going at all times.

I'm not going to participate in them anymore. I come here to relax. I'm here to discuss razors, related issues and some light conversation.

Threads like this are a good way to divide what could and should be a tight knit community.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Default HERE WE GO AGAIN

my own thoughts are that most of these types of discussions are just a basic attempt to besmirch Christians and what they believe, veiled in what seems to be an open debate. example: everyone will zero in on catholic priests for their indecent relations with young boys, without ever thinking about the great good the church may have done over history(yes i know there are other faults, so don't even go there) Christians have done a lot of good things down through time(yes there have been mistakes, so do not go there either)
mostly it is another attempt to bring further hate towards the religious Christian people of this country. it is also mostly brought about by highly educated, holier than thou Christian haters(i will not mention any names here, you know who you are)
some say that my religious freedom ends with their right to not believe. i have never encountered someone trying to force another to believe and attend church or convert. Christians believe it is up to the person to decide whether to accept Christ or not.
i am in complete agreement with miner123 about this site and the forums on here. i come here to learn from other members about the joys of straight shaving and believe we should remain a close knit "band of brothers". i know some of you have seen me get involved in many debates on here about politics, global warming, religion and so forth and i stick to what i believe in and what i have been taught. i am open to change my mind "IF" i can find sufficient proof to validate a change, but not before.
furthermore if the "conversation" part of this site would to go away, it would not hurt my feelings at all. i come here to learn from the advice of others on straight shaving and things involved with that practice.

I've seen more heated posts in the hone section than I see in the conversation section. And they succesfully chased members off. If a fight or a division is going to occur any excuse will do.

Jesus is the son of God, and is part of the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

My personal belief is that Jesus is the son of God and therefore is not God. This just makes logical sense in my head is all.

As leadduck says, there are three persons in one God, and its really up to your own interpretation as to how you think of each of those persons.

I've always seen it as God is the Father, then Jesus and the Holy Spirit were fathered/ created by God.

Its one of those things with no real wrong or right answer, just a very difficult question..!

    Good thread!

Here's you're answer TRINITY have you heard of the TRINITY ?
trinity is this, god takes on THREE beings ( the father (god) the son (Jesus) and the holy spirit ... so the christian answer is yes, jesus is god
but then again it depends on what religion you ask .
to me it's all a bunch of smoke and mirrors ...
