New Dominos pizza anyone?
Has anyone tried the "new and improved" crust?
Here's my take: After changing the core recipe for the sauce, the cheese and the crust......near total redesign........and waiting 50 years for this........they managed to make an entirely "new" pizza that tastes exactly like the old product.
They didn't change the dough. That was and always will be the biggest problem.
Don't bother. Bleah. I hadn't eaten this stuff in 10 years.
The biggest complaint was that the crust tastes like cardboard. Now it tastes like cardboard lightly seasoned with butter and garlic.
We have a "The Finer Things In Life" forum, but no "The Lousier Things In Life" forum. That's where this pizza belongs.
My two cents.

Yeah, I tried this. I've always hated Domino's as it is not any excuse for pizza, much less edible food. However the marketing lured me in. I called in the order. Said, "Hey, it's a 100% money back guarantee!". They were "behind fifty (50) minutes in deliveries." Why? Who wants this junk?
I waited tirelessly and hungry for my pizza to arrive. And, well, I'm still waiting for it to arrive.
I don't think the crust or crud is the same, just they don't drop it in sawdust anymore. What the heck was up with all the beach sand on the bottom of the old pizza?
Now, the sauce seems quite the same. It's still very tart, bitter, old and frozen tasting. Very off putting.
The cheese. Well, it was...hmm....
You know that string cheese? That stuff is a better excuse for cheese than that.
So, 50 years, eh? It takes that long to know your product is crap? And that long to still not do anything about it?

I've not tried the "new" stuff yet, but I don't see what's so gross about Domino's. Sure, it's not like XXXXXXX or XXXXX pizza...but pizzas can't really be ranked in my opinion. It's like asking if Sprite, Big Red, or Coke is best. They're all soft drinks but they're different and don't try to be alike. It's whatever you're in the mood for.
I will say this, of all the pizzas I like Dominos is my least favorite rewarmed.
P.S I just graduate college, so I have an honorary degree in rewarmed Pizza...and blue-box macaroni, and ramen noodles,
P.S.S. Ramen noodles are pretty handy even in "nice" recipes. One of my favorite "weekend" recipes was pan-seared steaks done with just butter in the pan. Straight salt and crushed pepper for seasoning. Take all the drippings left in the pan, add heavy cream, beef stock, and a little cognac to make a gravy....put all on a bed of unflavored ramen noodles.

I tried it.
Maybe I don't expect much for 6 bucks, but it was ok. You get what you pay for in a gig like the pizza business.
I've had amazing pizza and I've had Domino's. Like I said, its ok.
Its not inedible. Its not great. No one else complained either, but we'd had a few libations before we decided to order. Its not ketchup and velveeta on pita bread... its ok. But in my neighborhood its 5.99 for a large. And it tastes like a meal you might pay 5.99 for.
To me it tastes different from how it tasted before... maybe a hint of rosemary in the crust... that said, its never going to be endorsed by Wolfgang Puck.
I didn't demand my money back, but I haven't had it since I tried it the first time. Maybe I have low standards, but I'm at peace knowing what I'm willing to pay 6 bucks for. Its worth 6 bucks... maybe even 7... but if I'm paying 15, I want something that tastes like I made it myself.

The crust is not as sweet, but too much garlic. Sauce was not that different. It does taste a little bit better.

I was looking forward to trying it since Domino's was never my favorite. After reading this, I guess I'll wait for the next change ...another 50 years?

Well, the old was bad enough! Whenever we ordered pizza while setting up a fireworks show, that would always be the stuff we'd get, generally because it was the only pizza to get. Cardboard topped w/ cheap string cheese.

For roughly the same cost, I think Caesar's pizza is quite a bit better, but I'm doing this taste comparison from memory as I gave up on Domino's long ago. The taste was never that good and the sausage parts reminded me too much of rabbit left-overs.
