Ahh...didn't see that one, I don't think. The title doesn't ring a bell. Oh, well. Personally, I've never been a big Conan watcher. His hair was/ is annoying. He knows that though. He was...okay. Now, Leno. He just sucks. Although I was never a Conan fan, he got viewed in my house a lot more than Jay. And if I never see what's his name...Kevin? from Jay's band laugh again it will be too soon. My gosh, NOTHING is that funny. I don't see how you can fake but so many laughs. For so many years. He mustve been paid well.

Who cares, they may be talented and a great guys and whatever, but they're a bunch of overpaid guys who chose public lives, and no one should feel sorry for them.

The bottom line is that Jay never had or ever will have "chops". The guy can make a funny voice and read what was written for him, but when it's not working or a guest goes off topic, the man squirms. Neither person in question can hold an audience regardless of circumstance like Carson, but Conan has the Self-deprecation bit to fall back on. Leno's 2 best bits are viewer sent newspaper and a bit he stole from Howard Stern.
Long live turning off the TV.

I agree that Carson was a classy host. He turned The Tonight Show into a real dynasty; a job that every comedian dreams of having. He retired before I was really able to stay up late enough to watch his show, though, so I didn't really get to see him.
He and Conan kept in touch before he died, and he was a fan of O'Brien's comedy. As I understand it, they weren't very close, but he respected Coco. For all his years at Late Night, Conan kept pictures of The Tonight Show's hosts on his studio wall -Jack Parr, Steve Allen, Johnny Carson...it was always his dream to folow in their footsteps. I just NBC was very wrong to treat Conan the way they did. He spent over twenty years with NBC, starting with SNL, then Late Night, and then for his 7 months on The Tonight Show. He paid his dues, built an incredibly loyal fan base, and then, simply because the ratings weren't through the roof right away, they stupidly decided to cater to Leno's wishes, who, if you listen to those two clips from the Howard Stern show, admitted that he was no Carson and said that he was okay with hanging it up at age 59 and passing the torch rather than drag it out forever. He also said that Conan was a suitable successor. And he was right on both points. It was the right thing to do, and Conan was the right guy to take over.
I so hope this goes bad for Leno. I want his audience to abandon him, his ratings to suffer and his show to tank. I wonder if he'll even take Conan's new studio when he returns?
I hope Conan takes a job with Fox or some other network as soon as his seven month waiting period elapses, and I hope he just destroys Leno in the ratings department. He is infinitely more skilled. Leno can't even read a freakin' cue card.
