VA is doing fine. I just had the Brother in Law go out and knock off two feet of snow where the satellite dish is supposed to be. We found the dish and now the TV works fine. Internet goes through the cable company. I've seen one guy try to get out and go to work (a fireman). They have not cleared our road yet. I can not see either of my cars anymore. They are somewhere out in the front yard near the road. Probably in the vicinity of those two new iglooes.

Here in WNY it is just very cold w/ no new snow or other precipitation of significant amount. We are happy to share the white stuff with all of you getting it now. We got 4 ft over New Year's weekend and haven't seen the ground since. Getting a few inches every day and it piles up fast. Then again we are just a few miles from Lake Ontario and in the snow belt. Go a few miles and the snow starts shrinking away.

That's too funny!
I live about 40 minutes east of AFDavis11 and 10 minutes north of Dulles Airport. Right now (2:00pm Sat) were sitting on somewhere between 24-30". Hard to exactly how much because there's a lot of drifting - shallowest places are about 2' deep and the high drifts are tall enough to chill the boys if I try and walk through them (e.g. about 3' deep).
It's really gorgeous out - so empty, peaceful, and quite (since everyone is snug in their homes) that all you can hear are the snowflakes brushing your jacket as they race by.
As for the supermarkets, I went at lunch time yesterday just because we needed our normal, weekly fridge refill and I knew it would be a bit nuts in the evening after everyone got out of work...
Wasn't insane during lunch hour, but it was a fair bit more crowded than usual at that time of day - thing is though, about half the people there weren't just snow-stocking, they had party platters and the like to stock up for Super Bowl Sunday too...
Here's what our street looks like right now:

The gas station/mini mart across the street from my work in Mclean VA was exchanging management. And for some reason or another, the old owners needed to get rid of all alcohol before the new owners could order more. What that meant for me was 50% off all beer and wine until stock was sold out. I bought $60 worth of beer for half of that.
That was at 3pm Friday, just as the snow was starting to stick to the roads. As I type this in Washington DC, on Saturday afternoon, my yardstick says 27" of snow with more still coming down.
I pulled some venison steaks out of my freezer. Keeping my beer on the front porch. Caught up on some reading, and movies. I have no plans to leave my introverts paradise. I haven't even shoveled my walk or made the slightest notion to dig out my truck.
