I don't like "the fact that" or other similar uses of "fact." Obviously it's a fact, why point it out?

Thanked: 39I find "pre-planning" to give me sharp, shooting pains! Mispronouncing "potable water" is another example of something that will force me to correct the speaker, in which I often hear the retort of "whatever".
The "whatever" I infer as the equivalent of "F*ck you". Perhaps it is because of my age or how I was reared.

Thanked: 23You need to understand the difference between absolute pressure and gauge pressure. Absolute pressure is the true pressure and can never be less than zero (i.e. there is no such thing as a negative absolute pressure). Gauge pressure is the pressure measured relative to atmospheric pressure. This is the pressure you see on any pressure gauge. Since it is possible to have a pressure less than atmospheric (i.e. a vacuum) then it is possible to have a negative gauge pressure.

The improper use of "their", "there" and "they're." Also "your" and "you're." I have also seen a rise in people using "then" when they meant to use "than." As in "SRD has Dovo's cheaper then anywhere else."
I also cringe at the overuse of words such as the one that started this topic.
Epic, sick, rad, tight, hot, killer, awesome.
"Dude, my paycheck was epic, time to go shopping for some sick clothes, in my rad car. The scene at the mall is going to be tight, after the mall we'll go to that killer bar and do some shots of Grey Goose. It'll be awesome."
I also have to work with a couple guys who always say "pacific" when they mean "specific" as well as referring to the new fiscal year as the "physical" year.
Finally, anyone who says booyah around me gets an instant punch to the throat.
