Thread: Flash-enabled Phones

Hey guys,

The honeymoon with iPhone is just about over, and the fact that Apple does not plan on enabling iPhone with Flash capability has all but made this company fall from grace with me (again).

Think about how robust a phone/pda could be. Hulu, lala, napster, espn, YouTube (web-based) etc. all leverage flash content for their material, and iPhone has no plan to allow its users to access any of it.

My question is, what Flash-enabled phones, if any, are coming to market (or are already on the market)? A bonus would be if you knew of any that exists on the AT&T network.

Android support is coming or is there already (at least for some models), Windows 6.5 or 7 could be other candidates you could have a look at.

edit: Win 7 seems like a no so far, but 6.5 has.

My current Nokia is about 4 years old and i've been thinking for some time now about breaking my long lasting relationship with Nokia and buy iPhone. Some of my friends have it and it seems to be worth considering.

iPhone doesn't have a FM radio and it seems to be force married with operator. Is it so that Apple people do not want to sell their phones or why make such stupidies?
What it comes to Flash i think it new Nokia N900 does have it, but i cannot be 100% sure. Have to check when time comes to throw my old phone away.

I don't think the N900 is a phone, just a web tablet. It does have flash, and the same operating system as the N9_ cell phones. From what I understand Adobe is releasing the next version of flash for smartphones this year, and the only one they know won't support it is the Iphone.

Exactly why I am getting away from the iPhones. Why they would purposely cripple the potential functionality of their devices has dumbfounded me.

And I'm not easily dumbfounded...

Apple has convinced people that their vertical integration scheme is a good thing, and that it's not a big deal if you can only use software that you get from them. They don't want to risk having users operating outside of their control.

My next phone with be a "phone". I am tired of cameras,
network data charges, bad reception, bad sound muddy
voice and too short battery life.

I must admit I do like text messages.... and GPS under
a 911 call.

I do not believe that phone cameras will ever replace actual cameras so i do not need it either.
For my work i travel for some, and need to get into internet. Currently i'm doing this by connecting my phone into laptop. It works ok, as we have a option to buy unlimited time per month with cell phone. I currently have unlimited 2 mb speed with about 23 e per month.
I'm not so much after other fancy stuff in phone. I do not play or chat or anything like that.

I like Palm. A lot. But they're a stupid underdog missing out on the main business driver: Blackberry support. If they'd only get Blackberry Connect to work on WebOS, plus push it hard with the providers, I'd buy one of those. I work for a company with a BB-only policy.
