A headsup on the 2010 census that I could have done without.
So in my mailbox this day was a letter from the gov telling me that I will be receiving my 2010 census next week and reminding me of how important it is that I fill it out and send it in. I voted for the current administration and, given the same choices, would do so again. So I'm reluctant to criticize them as they get more than enough already but this is so ridiculous I cannot help myself. The expenditure of mailing every address in the USA to tell them something they already know is bizarre IMO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well, considering that if they DIDN'T do it, and some stranger was going door to door asking all kinds of personal questions, it might end up with, oh I don't know, dead census workers?
Remember, Jimmy, just because YOU are an informed, intelligent person doesn't mean Bubba down the block is.

Thanked: 369Of course they were just trying to be helpful! This administration will always assume that the little people need their help, whether they want it or not.
Yep, as far as they are concerned, we are ALL "bubba down the block."Last edited by honedright; 03-11-2010 at 02:24 AM.

Of all the federal nonsense this one is anchored in the constitution.
The U.S. Constitution requires that a census of the entire population, citizens and noncitizens alike, be made every ten years (Article I, Section 2, Clause 3).
I know that statistical samples are more cost effective but that
is not the law. The current process does address the blindness
that other processes so commonly have.
I do get a bit miffed when the process goes crazy -- but not over
questions that count the presence of flush toilets and running water
in homes.
