Thread: Dog Breeds?

Someone was telling me that golden retrievers and other "bird dogs" have "webbed feet" to aid in their swimming.

I checked my golden retriever and saw that the digits are indeed "webbed" or connected all the way up to the pad with a layer of skin.

Then I checked these two pups and both have this.

On a whim I checked my manx cat (which has 6 digits on each foot) and it was the same.

So, is the "webbed feet" thing a wives tale or is there something to this that helps me determine the exact heritage of these mutts?

The labrador retriever also has webbed paws. They could be part lab.

I'm still trying to find a home for these beautiful animals. If I had a home with some land I'd put up a wireless fence and let them roam but I've already got 2 dogs and a cat and a standard city lot to work with. As it is I'm not getting the dogs out on a daily walk. While the children love them they're leaving the care to dad and mom.

I don't want to take them to angels for animals because I have heard they do have them put down if they can't find a home for them in so many months. I'm particular though where they'll go. I want to be sure they'll go to a family that can at least provide them with food, shelter, a place to roam, and love.

I sure hope I can find a good home for them.

I know its awful hard to get rid of young animals, you can't help becoming attached and I can tell that you're concerned about what to do with these two cuties!

Take at least two or three good pictures of each young dog. One playing, one sleeping (gets em every time) and one sitting...etc.

Paste onto a poster board about 10 x 12 and underneath write their sex, aprrox. age...state that the young dogs are looking for a special family who will love them....and anything else you can think of to say that will pull on a few heart strings. Include your contact info.

Take one to every Veterinary Clinic in your town and surrounding area. Lots of animals are adopted off of the information board at the clinic...every clinic has one.
