Ridiculious Warning Labels/Instructions
A while ago, I read this article: Help, quick – I’ve unscrewed the top on a ticking bomb | Jeremy Clarkson - Times Online
Honestly, it's a hilarious article and it makes a great point. I'd highly recommend you read it.
The other night, as I was reading the label on a shampoo bottle, it came to mind again. The instructions say "Massage through hair and scalp." So I'm supposed to... massage it through my scalp and directly onto my skull?
Another one that comes to mind:
The instructions that came with my shopvac included a warning not to operate my the shopvac while under the influence of alcohol. That one baffles me...

Reminds me of a bash quote:
[xterm] The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Haha! I do like Clarkson, he's a great commentator and satirist. Top Gear is a great show as well.
One I saw over here recently was a warning on a packet of peanuts that said "This product may contain nuts."
Well, I sure as hell hope it does contain nuts or I'll be taking it back to the shop! What on earth else would be in there?

Well there actually is an explanation for that, even though it sounds redundant. Peanut allergies and tree nut (e.g. almonds) allergies are different, as peanuts are technically legumes.
There are people with tree nut allergies that can eat peanuts.
There are people with peanut allergies that can eat tree nuts.
The warning is to say "these peanuts could mess you up if you are allergic to either."

Funny read Dylan, thanks for that. OTOH, there should be a warning label with your link .... the author says "One drop at a time! Use extreme caution! On a sauce. Pah. Plainly it was just American lawyer twaddle." Could be seen as offensive to some.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I figured seeing the name "Jeremy Clarkson" in the title was sufficent warning for all Americans and anyone from continental Europe... :-)
