I say the lion, he'll just get the lioness to do the fight while he's sipping a beverage and watching the show, and of course she being female has advantage and will win for him. He'll then reward her with his affection making her his top b..... hmm they're cats not dogs, so it kinda breaks a bit at this point. Oh well, cheers anyways!

I'm going to go with the tiger. Bigger, stronger and totally bad-@$$ looking..!
I remember seeing the "Nightmares of Nature" documentaries when they were on, and the guy saying that a tiger had pulled the carcass of a water buffalo up a tree to feed, and this is an animal that four fully grown men cant lift. They're really strong!
I also like Calvin and Hobbes, so I'd want the tiger to win.

I'd say the tiger. It seems to me that the tiger is more active (more energy) than the "lazy" lion.

yes in that t.v show comparing the two the lion won. As I recall it had to do with a combination of things. The social nature of the Lion and the manner in which it stalked its prey and the way it kills by strangulation as opposed to the tiger who uses the canines to puncture. Since the lion is smaller its quicker and more nimble and could get into a position where the tiger couldn't use his teeth to advantage.

Genetically they are almost identical. Their skeletons I believe are identical, a highly experienced zoologist would have trouble telling them apart. They are so similar that they can be cross bred, known as a tigon or liger, depending upon if the tiger is the mother or the father.
Now given that the above information is correct, and assuming that the two animals in the fight were the same size and body weight, both wild and full of energy, it would be impossible to say.
Generally a tiger is larger and heavier than a lion, so in that case the tiger.
A more interesting question would be the consequence of a silverback gorilla and a kodiak bear engaging in combat.
