    Default Favorite Cigars

I noticed that several people on SRP smoke cigars. I happen to like a cigar every once in a while. My favorites are Cuba Libre pyramid, Punch Punch, CAO Brazilia, La Aurora Maduro. I like a thicker cigar around a 42 - 50, and Churchill in length. Unfortunately, time does not not allow it so I end up smoking a robusto size instead...

I have fond memories of past summer weekends spent with friends smoking cigars, sipping a port or madera wine, and shooting the breeze. It seems that during those times my friends and I became more relaxed, more open, exploring the mysteries of life. I look forward to warmer days!

For you that smoke cigars, what are some of your favorites? Which ones do you find down right nasty. What special memories do you have that is tied to smoking cigars?

My personal favorites are the Cohiba D.R. corona and the Montecristo #3. I prefer coronas over other size cigars simply because they feel right. They don't take forever to smoke like some larger cigars, and have, IMO, more flaver then thinner, smaller cigars. I especially enjoy a cigar after a hard day, with a glass of wine or brandy. It relaxes me and helps me unwind.
This fall I'm planning on going to the Cigar Aficionado Big Smoke in Las Vegas. I attended one a couple of years ago and it was a blast. You come away with about 20-25 premium cigars, they have quite a few premium alcohols to sample (most that are beyond my price range) and food from LV area restaurants. It's a good time.

I'm not much of a tobaco smoker, but I gotta confess I still have a soft spot in my taste buds for a Dutch Mehari.

I've been to this event in the past and it is a good time. I don't smoke cigars at this time but my favorites were R&J Churchills and Bolivar coronas.

The only montecristo that I had was a disappointment. It wasn't the cigars fault though, but rather the merchants fault. I was laid over in Chicago for bad weather. Not having anything to do I thought I would go to a jazz club that was in the hotel. They sold MCs, so I tried one. It was so dried out that it unravelled on me while I tried to smoke it. The flavor was good, just impossible to smoke...

I have not had the opportunity to try a Cohiba.D.R.. What are they like? What kind of wrapper are they dressed up in?

The Cohiba Dominican is one of the smoothest cigars I've smoked. It's wrapped in a dark cameroon wrapper. It has a mild to medium body, with a rich flavor. I've also smoked a couple of Cuban Cohiba's, but I prefer the Dominican Cohiba. Though I haven't smoked many Cuban cigars, I don't think they're worth the price. The best prices I've found on the Cohiba Dominican are at www.jrcigars.com.

That sounds like a wonderful cigar! I will have to keep my eyes open, and try one next time I go to the cigar store. My favorite out of them all is the Cuba Libre Pyramid. I do not know how it rates compaired to others; bottom line is I like it. I purchased a box online to try them, after which I was so pleased that I bought 4 more boxes! Punch, in my opinion is a close second.

My favorite cigars are as follows: Torano 1959 Exodus Gold perfecto; Cuban Crafter's J.L. Salazar torpedo; CAO Brazilia Piranha (my beloved fishies). Others in the rotation are Punch MM Rothschilds, Henry Clay Brevas, and the NSS torpedos from mrbundles.com. These cover only a portion of the contents of my fridgeador.

My current favorite is the La Gloria Cubana Serie R, No. 7, which is a magnificent smoke. It's a whopping 58 ring which lets all the flavor come through. It's a dark and strong Cuban-style cigar. They have the same cigar in a maduro wrapper that is even more spectacular.
