Default Mark Dice: Americans don't know why we celebrate the 4th of July

This is like a Leno segment when he gets out in the street and asks people questions that you would think, they would be able to answer. It's kind of funny but a little sad too.

Ah, yeah, the latest big news that there are people who can lead their life without much knowledge of the origins of their country.
I wonder if the interviewer has ever held a 'real job'.

Obviously that little production would not be a "little" production if everybody was answering the questions.

I wonder if the interviewer even knew what it meant before they told him what to say. He probably could be found at the local bar that night blowing his money buying drinks for everyone.

As sad as it is, this doesn't surprise me in the least. We have kids graduating college with advanced degrees that can barely string together a coherent sentence, much less know what the national holidays are all about.

I don't know if he ever had a real job but just in the few minutes of that video he brought more value to the market that any government mobster.

EDIT: Here is another Dice video since so many enjoyed the other. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk5aRIz17fk

Oh most definitely, it just doesn't happen to be my type of 'value'. But there are obviously plenty of people willing to pay him little at a time to be 'enlightened'.

Yeah, I think I'd go with your valuation of 'sad'.

"americans" not knowing why they celebrate the fourth of july is not something that bothers me.. what annoys me are the "americans" who don't know why they celebrate cinco de mayo.

I'm Canadian, and I knew most of those answers. The thing is that you could find the same number of people in Canada who don't know who Sir John A. MacDonald is. In any case though, I would be interested in finding out how long it took him to find enough people who didn't know to make a video segment that long.
