Thread: Finding the Fallen

This programme is about a team of archaeologists excavating sites in France and Belgium where battles were fought in WW1. I found it fascinating that when they recovered the body of a Scotsman who fell at the battle of Loos amongst his possessions was an army issue SE razor, still clearly identifiable after nearly 100 years in the ground. There was also the soldier's pipe still part filled with tobacco. Such minutiae makes one think of the man who hoped to shave the next day and finish his pipe later but fell in battle.
