Default Have you ever been snake bit

    Or spider bit or whatever?

My wife was tagged on the ankle when she was 16 by a diamondback. Her ankle swelled to the size of her thigh. She was in the hospital for 10 days and was unconscious for part of that time.

She is in her 50's now, but the scar from the treatment surgery is still clearly visible.

I've had a few really close calls with water moccasins but have never been bit.

    How about you?

To many times to recount... but I've escaped the poisonous bite so far. Amazing considering how many I have caught over the years...

When my daughter was born (15 years ago) I stopped playing with poisonous snakes, spiders, and scorpions. Never got tagged by them but have had a few close calls.

This pic is one that couldn't be moved away, my wife stepped right over it and by that time it raised up and was in striking range of 3 of our party, lucky I had a snake shot loaded in my 22. We had a good lunch that day

I've never been bit, but I had a few run ins with spiders and snakes when I was in Oz.

I ran over a Brown snake on my mountain bike when I was out riding in the hills near Brisbane. Didnt kill it, but you've never seen a snake move so fast! I stopped not far away and you could hear it hissing fit to bust in the bushes, so I stayed well clear..!

I also got a Redback spider caught up in my T-shirt on another bike ride.

I got a Golden Orb spider in my face when I was out horse riding on Tambourine Mountain. Unfortunately when you're on horseback the Orbs make their webs about face height...!

Had a King Brown go me when I stood on him. He struck at my ankle about 15 times. Lucky for me I managed to stand on him quite close to his head and I was wearing thick socks and GP boots of the decent leather kind at the time. Unlucky for him I had a machete on me and as a result he lost his head.
I've been bitten several times by different spiders, only one unidentified bugger made me ill though. Even had a big fat one decide my armpit was the place to be when I got into bed one night...Felt him run all the way along my ribs and cuddle up into my arpit all cold and clammy. The wife was not impressed at all when I told her to get the hell out of bed and turn the damn light on. As soon as she did I was gone.
Plenty of close calls with scorpions and other snakes as well over the years.
