Howdy all,
While I'm here preparing dinner tonight I was thinking if I could have only one more meal what would it be?
Of course that got me thinking what would my fellow SRP members say.
So let's hear it. What's your "last meal" or just your favorite food in general?

Well...Anything my wife or my mom make...they are FANTASTIC cooks (especially my wife...Shhhhh! Don;t tell mom :fim:). I thought I was a good cook...but man, they rock. My wife made some organic chicken cutlets with tons of herbs ans spices (to die for...literally)...can't wait to get home and try/sample them out after work. Unfortunately, she won't join me as she is at the beach celebrating a friend's birthday...hey, that means there's more for me :D.
What are you preparing?
Tonight was a simple pasta dish. With scallops in a white wine butter sauce.
On the side a salad with red onion tomato and feta cheese with salt and oregano and olive oil. Can't forget the bread for dipping the oil after the salad is done!

If I knew it was going to be my last meal I don't think I would have much of an appetite. That's why they usually give condemned prisoners their last meal well in advance of the execution. They wouldn't want them to choke on the food when they throw up.
My favorite food though? Probably chicken parmesan with some baked ziti and sauteed mushrooms and fresh made Italian bread and some nice red wine.
I think I might choose wild mushrooms or perhaps fugu (blowfish). I've always been afraid to eat them before.
I guess my favorite food would be Mexican or Tex Mex...( I love authentic tamales)
However, Nothing beats a nice hunk of Prime Rib, w/baked potatoe....
So much food, so little time....
I'll just have something to go, please!
this is a question that is often discussed among chefs.. ofcourse a lot of cheeky chefs reply with the 5 letter p word for a woman's intimacy location..
i however will go with carne asada tacos off a los angeles taco truck.. and a sidral. growing up in los angeles.. taco trucks have always been a major comfort food.. two heated on the grill corn tortillas piled high with carne asada, cilantro, onions, and a nice avocado puree salsa.. absolute heaven after a night of throwing back pints of lager and shots of tequila. any srp'ers ever visit los angeles and you are personally invited for a meal on me.. i know all the best trucks in just about every neighbourhood in los angeles.

Don't think of it as your last meal. Just thinknof it as what would you have as the bestest meal ever!
I believe i would have an extremely rare steak marinated in Corona beer and Worcestershire sauce for 24 hours, a loaded baked potato, chef salad with blue cheese dressing, Hot homemade white bread and the biggest iced tea they could get me with peach cobbler for desert.
for me it would be some steamers, lobster,fresh native corn on the cob, garden tomato sliced up, and about a 12 pack of Heineken, that sounds so good,its going to happen this weekend, thanks for the post:beer2:

With that said, a last meal for me would be a couple of cornmeal waffles piled high, slathered with butter and warm maple syrup, a side of thick cut pepper bacon, and a quart of milk so darn cold that it would give my mouth frostbite. Ahhhhh.....
I get hungry just thinking about it.
BBQ steak, steamed vegetables and my famous pepper onion mashed potatoes. French mustard, cab sav, fresh bread rolls and butter.
But there are so many other great possibilities...
Right now my answer is Maryland Blue Crabs.

I'll chime in this thread again.
here is a list of famous last meals.. some as basic as a single olive.. to multiple cheeseburgers, a bucket of kfc, and 2 gallons of ice cream.

I have thought about this many times... and it's hard for me to settle on one thing. While my favorite food is probably baby back ribs, I would have to pick an italian dish that I actually came to know while living in Brazil (hence the weird sides)
Gnocchi with black beans and rice, pao de qeuijo (a type of cheese bread), and some cashew juice. Follow it all with a mousse de maracuja (passion fruit mousse) and I'd be ready to go. :D
oh man.. i do love some brazilian bbq too! sirloin cap is the best.. and i love that brazilian soda "guarana" i think it's called.. stuff is the best. and some deep fried plantain chips.. that would be a close second..
and whoever said primerib was thinking right too.. extra rare with plenty of horseradish.. i'd sub a baked sweet potato instead of the usual russet.
this thread is making want to cook.
Ah yes... picanha (sirloin cap) and guarana. Excellent stuff, but after a few years in brazil I can tell you two things. 1. Antarctica guarana is by far the best, and 2. If they ever import the apple flavored Fanta it will take the world by storm.Quote:

Dim Sum. It would remind me of growing up in Hong Kong as a child in the 70s, with huge family get-togethers, grazing on little bamboo containers of steaming dim sum over a three-hour period at lunch.
And of course, it would have to include the best dim sum dish: Phoenix Talons! :D
I would want my executioner slow cooked over a spit and served with some fava beans and a fine chianti.
Mussels stewed in white wine, Cajun blackenend fish, Italian ice cream.
BTW: we all know what we want to eat prior to death, but how would we want to die?
I would have crusty bread, cheese and massive quantities of Amarone. I'd also get a box of fine cigars and enjoy those with the wine.
I'd be so hammered when I got to the execution I wouldnt know my own name. :D
