Any Linux Geeks around ? I need a bit of help.
I'm running mint ubuntu and trying to find a good app to run a digital microscope which is essentially a webcam. I've tried cheese and kapote with no luck. The mfg tech recommended Skype. I downloaded it but I'm unable to register. I don't know that it would work if I was able. Anyone recommend a good app ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

not sure if this helps or not, but gnomemeeting is packaged for ubuntu - you can run in other window managers, but you will need the gnome libraries installed (yum should take care of dependencies for you).

Hi,
There is a bit of stuff here about Veho digital microscopes under Linux:
USB Microscope under Linux
I run an astrocam under Kubuntu, and I will have a peek to see what I did to set it up - it was a while ago !!
Have fun !
Best regards

My solution was to just start buying cameras that work with the stock drivers. I think around Etch they got reasonably good.
I know this doesn't help you, but it'll tell you how much I ended up hating the issue. Or may be I just got older and lost interest in tinkering with the OS.
OTOH not being able to register on Skype seems rather odd. Also you shouldn't need to register to check if the camera works, or may be you do, it's too late for me to check it now.
