One day at a time man, that's all it takes. Good luck Jimmy.
Just think, you might actually get fast on the bike if you quit now! lol

I smoked for about 40 years, ending at around 3 packs a day. Patches didn't work for me, nor gum, or tapering off.
Basically went cold turkey with a pacifier twist. I did it by keeping the ritual while I fully eliminated all the nicotine. Then eliminate the ritual.
Details:
Kept 2 packs and tossed the rest. Carried one cigarette in an eyeglass case and stuck it in my mouth whenever I wanted a cigarette. Took it out after 5 or 10 minutes, or as soon as I started to feel silly... and placed it back in it's case. Whenever I wanted to smell tobacco, I smelled it. I could do whatever I wanted with a cigarette (or pipe) as long as it wasn't burning. Including "inhaling" air through unlit tobacco, cigarette or pipe. The cigarette was changed every day or so at first because it looked kinda' ratty after all that "non-use". I think it took about 4 weeks before I stopped craving a lit cigarette. After another 3 weeks, I stopped using the pacifier. It helped that some folks would ask why I had an unlit, ratty-looking, falling-apart cigarette in my mouth.
The really bad nicotine cravings stopped in the first 5 to 7 days. Haven't smoked since 2004 and don't want to smoke. I still like the smell of unlit tobacco, but burning tobacco smoke actually makes me sick to my stomach. Well worth the effort of finding out what will work for you. I would say good luck, but luck has nothing to do with it.

That is a cool trick. I don't think I could do it. I'd light that sucker up at some point.
Gums, Patches, Lozenges, all "worked" for me in that I would become hopelessly addicted to them in place of smoking or dipping. I think I used the patch for 2 years.
Anyway finally just went cold turkey and suffered through it.
The Pipe and Cigar pictures on this site kill me. (the look so appealing) I know if I even had one puff I'd be back to a pack a day in no time flat.
I do not touch any type of nicotine. Now if I could only do the same for alcohol.
