If Only All Companies Operated Just Like Shaving Related Companies...
I ordered something from Classic Shaving, and after a week, I hadn't heard back from them. No shipping information, no confirmation, nothing. I emailed them, and apparently the receipt of payment email had gone into their spam box. Their response to this was to send me 2 free samples of a related product.
I also own a G5 scuttle from Georgetown Pottery. A couple months ago, my nifty little rubber stopper grew legs and ran away, so I finally decided to email Georgetown Pottery about this. I asked the what the dimensions of the stopper are and where I could go to purchase a new one, and they promptly replied with an email requesting my address so that they could send me a new one for free.
When companies do things like this, it says something about them. They provide excellent service, and it gets return customers, which is such an important thing in the world today. I also often see offers to new members to hone a first razor for free (in fact, Sham honed my first razor a year ago for the price of postage).
This doesn't even really benefit the people offering to hone these razors. It is just good people trying to get new and confused members in the right direction.
If larger corporations adopted any of these policies in any way, they could actually benefit the community and make the world a little bit of a better place. I am a big supporter of giving credit where it is due, so if I'm getting something for free, then I'm going to spread the word. It's a nice reminder that people are still good.
Happy Shaving,
Brent
