    Default first marathon woo-hoo

so i spent the morning today running my first marathon, finished in five hours and thirty seven minutes. it felt like a great accomplishment. may not be very fast to any of the real runners out there but i was happy with it.

Congratulations. Something I used to think about doing when I was younger but never disciplined myself enough to follow through. Hats off to anyone who can run 26 miles 385 yards.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I'm no runner...but I'm geeky enough to do the math on what splits that comes out to...and I think that's VERY legit. Especially a first marathon.

You've done something most (myself included) never have...and never will.

So when you gonna do your second?

Not sure when I'm doing the second one, maybe a year or so when I recover from this one lol, but really hopefully in six months or so. I think every one should try one at least once it was an experience like no other, pain in spots I didn't know could hurt lol

Congrats, that 23 more miles than I have ever run at one time. That's a huge accomplishment.

Good for you! Don't worry about the time -- just be proud of crossing the finish line.

Many years ago -- when I was younger and fitter -- I did the Ottawa marathon in 4:54. Mostly racewalking, not running or jogging.

My training buddies were taking bets on whether I would finish or not. Slow but steady . . .
